We here at Second State are thrilled to bring you our new concept entitled HUB. While most labels these days are doing various artists releases to showcase the overall talent on their label, we thought it would be better suited for both our listeners and ourselves to break the mold and bring you a series of true collaborations. Each HUB release will feature a single artist teaming up with others from the Second State family to create an EP of authentic musical compromises. A place where multiple minds find a harmony somewhere outside their own identity and each collaboration conceives a genuinely unique artifact. With this, there is no one we would rather have kick off the series than the man behind the massive EPs; 'Throwl' and 'Doch', Stephan Hinz with HUB One!

Of course it would only be right to kick off the first track of the first HUB One way. An alliance with, Pan-Pot. "Tension' is a heavy number with just a few key elements, it's a slow lurking journey through a dark forest at night. As each bush and branch is pushed aside and every step inches closer to a destination unknown, the pressure builds. Soon, without knowing, you are in the depths of a jungle with no way back and only one decision. Keep going.

The under lying throbbing of the drums drives this EP into the forefront of the heads down Drumcode sound and have been heard in many of Beyer’s phenomenal sets throughout the year.

Analytic comes back with a new figure in the family, label boss Markantonio brought directly from Spain Maae. The Spanish producer is born and raised in the Barcelona techno scene, he began his Dj Career in 2000 until 2010 when he started his own label Metodiq. Today he continues his collaborations and productions on different labels like MB Elektronics, Rhythm Converted, Driving Forces, !Organism and many more. Now is the time for Analytictrail and Maae took to Neapolitan label a fresh EP called Close To Ground that includes four original tracks.

Close to the ground is the namesake track of the EP and is a classic underground straight Techno track made by old school chords, heavy bassline and distorted nasty kick. 

Klon is a Techno spacey bouncing track, made by a plastic groove surrounded by synth bells and Detroit styles chords. 

Private Mod is the right mix of classic Techno track with rounding deep bass and strong kick fused with house vocal melodies from 90s.

Resolution has a pumped kick and dark bass, the listener can be dropped in a timeless journey driven by the Chicagos Techno school chords.

For sure another top quality work released by one of the most representative labels in the music industry and produced by a very good musician that deserves respect of all Techno lovers out there.

Mister Woo is a composite techno-hybrid supergroup that has been forged against a harsh maritime backdrop of Portsmouth, UK. Following Aristotle’s philosophy “the sum is greater than its parts” the core members of Reset Robot, Jon Gurd and Tom Powell cast aside their professional careers to concentrate on the emotive outlet and gnarled production machine that is Mister Woo.

As a complex blend of established producers, sound engineers and multi-instrumentalists, the trio, bound by location, deliver a series of audio-visual works based on ground breaking production, perfectionism and exceptional electronic music.

Loveland returns for the second release on their newly revamped record label Loveland Recordings and Ian O’Donovan does the honours. The Irish producer was catapulted to Loveland’s attention when Adam Beyer closed the 2014 Loveland Festival with ‘Vortex’. Since then Loveland’s mailbox and Facebook have been bursting with requests for ‘that amazing track from Adam’s set’. Much to Loveland’s delight Ian was willing to release the highly anticipated anthem on their record label and the Vortex EP was born.

<p>Blue City Dub and Vinz Exe team up for this furious package and the title track is up first with mangled vocals reiterating the actual title and a sparse arrangement depending heavily on the juicy sub bass. The Responder remix introduces the addition of tense atmospherics which create a futuristic vibe that is reinforced by the rumbling low-end. On the synth-led &#8220;Forest Shades&#8221;, mighty stabs and an evolving, eerie riff take center stage before Responder takes over once again to completely flip things around with a dubbed-out approach, complete with distressed electronics and shadowy effects.</p>

Mark Reeve presents his second release on Drumcode, ‘Run Back’, a four track EP crammed with heavy hitting kick drums and his signature big basslines. The dark sounds and heavy textures are typical of Reeve and he’s showing no sign of slowing down yet. Four tracks of brooding techno, this EP is one not to be missed.

Enrico Sangiuliano came up through illegal raves and is now a top DJ who plays all over the world and has his music played by the likes of Adam Beyer and Sven Vath. He has had the longest ever running techno number one on Beatport (his remix of ‘Can You Hear Me’ for DJ Boris on Alleanza) and is one of the best selling artists on the site at any one time. His music comes on Cocoon and Drumcode amongst others, and is powerful, direct stuff for the dance floor.

Written entirely in Italy, “X-Pollination (or cross-pollination) is fundamentally the key factor of growth, consciousness and life,” says the artist. “It’s the way I connect with people, share my passion, fly from one place to another and put many influences and elements into my music.”

The title track is eight minutes of slow burning but hypnotic techno funk with rolling rubber drums and nervy pads. Frazzled synths add post apocalyptic vibes to this main room anthem and many well crafted peaks and troughs along the way help make it even more standout. It is a real techno classic in the making.

Mark Reeve is the UK star who remixes. He has a long history with techno that goes back to the rave scene. Since then his education has taken in trips to techno mecca The Omen, has resulted in music on Cocoon and collabs with Pig & Dan. He has also released on Drumcode and has a big rolling sound that fills the world’s finest clubs and warehouses with his unique grooves. His take on the original is more energetic, with searing synths, cantering kicks and a dark energy that makes you pump your fist and stomp the floor. It is full of drama and is perfect balanced from start to finish.

Adam Beyer’s Drumcode juggernaut attracts more fans and critical plaudits with each passing year. Holding firm on its future facing ethos, techno’s number one label presents a new volume in its acclaimed A-Sides series with 20 prime tracks to signify its 20th anniversary. 

Such is the volume of quality music Adam Beyer receives throughout the course of the year, releasing all of it would be impossible. Enter the blue chip A-Sides series: a chance for the quality-obsessive label head to issue a collection of outstanding tracks that couldn’t fit in their regular EP release schedule. 

With an eye on future talent, as much as the label’s established roster of heavy-hitters, the compilation showcases the full breadth of Drumcode’s multifaceted techno sound, equal parts inspiring and functional.
 
Led by the stealth techno funk of ‘Nine of You’, Beyer’s deft collaboration with Mark Reeve, the compilation takes in exciting highlights from big guns such as Alan Fitzpatrick, Dustin Zahn, Bart Skils, Pleasurekraft, Luca Agnelli, Jay Lumen, Kaiserdisco and Gary Beck. 

The rich vein of form displayed by emerging techno talent is similarly given prime position. Rising DJ/producer Boxia makes his Drumcode debut, fresh from a well-received warm up set for the crew at the hugely successful Junction 2 festival in London, while the likes of Enrico Sangiuliano, Juan Sanchez, Ian O’Donovan and Timmo also drop fire, establishing their credentials as some of the most promising talent breaking through the ranks in 2016. 

Reinforcing the global scope of the label, artists such as The Junkies from Toronto and Layton Giordani from New York, prove techno is winning a place in the heart of the new generation of artists coming out of North America.

After the release of their collaborative ‘BREED’ EP at the end of last summer, Nicole Moudaber and Skin have unveiled the highly anticipated remix package featuring a long list of respected producers. Carl Craig, Fur Coat, Jamie Jones, Jerome Sydenham, Paco Osuna, Pan-Pot and Scuba are just some of the names which have turned their hand to the project. Originally born out of Nicole and Skin ofSkunk Anansie’s desire to fuse their rock and techno backgrounds, this is a true for a collaboration project with a difference.
