For this episode and for the followings, I wanted to give the floor to some artists I admire and respect a lot. I believe everyone has ideas, a voice, opinions they want to fight for. I believe we can aspire for a better future world through music. Today, I have invited @c-m-d to record a Mixing for a Cause podcast.

MFC 8 : CMD – A world without police 

CMD (@c-m-d) aka Cyan (@cyan-dj) is a Montreal DJ and producer whose live performances and DJ sets reveal a veteran talent for creating aesthetic links between various styles.
Her commitment to finding and sharing new music is reflected in her radio show modular systems on CKUT 90.3 FM and her guest mixes for various podcasts.

As a producer she has releases on Jacktone, Low Noise Productions, and Fur Trade. The talented musician DJs widely and has shared bills with artists like Nina Kraviz, Robert Hood, Kevin Saunderson, Lotus Eater, Gunnar Haslam, Avalon Emerson among others. 

This accustomed artist to world-renowned events such as Piknic Electronik, Igloofest or Mutek Festival is one of the pillars of the Montreal techno scene.

Today in her Mixing for a Cause mix, CMD wanted to express her feelings regarding police abolition. 

CMD : “Calls to defund and dismantle city police departments are gaining momentum in response to recent violence perpetuated by police and the racist legacy of policing in Canada and the US. Alternatives to police and prisons have been advanced for decades by the abolition movement, particularly through the work of Black feminist scholars and activists like Angela Davis, Beth Richie, Mariame Kaba, Ruth Wilson Gilmore, Robyn Maynard and many others. I have been learning about the history of this movement and its aims, and the wider history of policing as a form of state violence used against Black and Indigenous peoples. I want to encourage everyone to resist the law and order narratives we've been fed for decades to imagine a world without police, and to support abolitionist organizers and actions.”
