First and foremost, Inside Out Music was born out of a genuine passion for progressive rock and metal. From the very beginning our goal has been to use all of our resources and experience to find and acquire the very finest new progressive music in the world - and - in turn - to present it back to the world in a meaningful way. Quite simply, we are dedicated to developing progressive music as a genre by developing the best acts that the genre has to offer.

Cinematic Soundscapes for the Post-Everything Era. 
Los Angeles musicians David J Dowling and Erik Tokle improvise a wash of looped guitars into organic compositions which float, pulse, jangle, collide and linger delicately on the precipice between inevitable entropy and improbable hope.

LOS ANGELES.

I very much started out playing instruments very late in life, and spent much of my earlier days listening to it, rather than playing it. I am very much a self taught musician and regard my instruments very much like implements, tools or devices to write with, rather than being anything remotely near a good playing musician of any great technique. 

I guess I really got into instruments more back in 1994 when I got into my first band (though I did learn to play the Harmonica when I was 8 years old) it was around this time I wrote a song on the Guitar entitled Oldtime Street. The song is very much even today one that contains some of the finest lyrics I have ever written, and very much perhaps inspired me to carry on.

Though the band back in 1994 was a very short affair, it was not long after I got into a R&B band performing Rock & Blues in various pubs around my own town Birmingham. I was very much the lead singer in this outfit which lasted some 6 years. Though during these years the band had gone through several line up and name changes and came to a stop in 2001. I suppose it was a bit of relief in a sense, because it's quite easy to put a band together, but murder to keep everyone happy, and keep it going.

Even though I only really did Vocals and played my Harmonica in the band, I still found time now and then, for my guitar, and my keyboards at home, and I also contributed in a big way to our own compositions in the band.

Like beacons of unfiltered humanity your bravest dreams are real and they reach me even in the most remote and ancient ocean abyss. They are magic. Oh, magnificent invisible gods I’ve been trying to write a poem for you. 

These recordings can be divided into three (Four if you count cover versions of my songs by other SC artists) unfit categories; Butterflies songs, Waltz Bros. Songs and Pall of a Past World songs. Butterflies were a three and four piece band of which I was a member. The band released two albums and several singles 
during it’s run in the mid to late nineties. The Waltz Bros. Is my most current project consisting of myself and Matt Wilson with occasional help from friends. Pall of a Past World consist of things that I’ve done that don’t fit into either of those titles.
