Independent label Soul Trader Records have prided themselves on only releasing the top quality liquid cuts which land in their inbox, following their plethora of support across the scene. Time and time again they've been heralded for their slick selections, presenting the type of drum & bass which keeps its smoother underbelly alive. Their deeper styles make them notorious during club nights too, drawing the crowd into dark and turbulent basslines whilst using this live setting to pedestal their roster's musical creations. And next up from the imprint is a new EP from Precision and Subdivision, two producers who've come together to present a deliciously slick release which will continue Soul Trader's legacy into the new year.

'You & I' features a soft appeal, focusing on its strung out harmonies and snapping kick drum which helps to peddle the track underneath. Unafraid to break the mould, the record then unearths moody swathes of LFO as it begins to evolve, although each note progression still adds to its more relaxed personality. Once again Subdivision and Precision are able to bring together two opposing sides in this EP, within a world moulded by carefully crafted bass and a high calibre production.

About the CD:
002 of the Classic Mix CD Series and yet another absolute stand out classic. After getting into house at around 15, I guess my only source of info was Danny Rampling's seminal LGDP (Love Groove Dance Party) Saturday nights on Radio 1. However I can't remember Carter getting much coverage on there, yet he, much like Danny Tenaglia seemed to have a level of legend unlike most. This CD cemented my love of house music with an all might smash in the face. The tempo, the bass, the disco, the filters, and fucked up vocals... this was heavyweight. Nothing could compete at the time. I'll always remember driving to college with my 2 nerdy class mates and insisting they played this CD in the car. I'm raving in the back and they are like "What the fuck is this shit, turn it down!". It's with immense pleasure that DJ's like Sneak and Carter seem to be booking all the massive clubs and parties again. I'm not so keen on the whole 'I'm a House Gangster' vibe... but this is as bad as it gets.

For those who don't know, Bizzy B's Brain label was one of the most futuristic in the early days when hardcore was becoming jungle. From 92-94 they released some of the best junglistic'ardcore there was. Classics like Darkness, Weekend, Dubplate Wars, 2 Dope ep, and artists like TDK whose TOG sublabel was a peak of amen choppage). Brain also put out the debut releases of Marc Caro (Technical Itch), Peshay and DJ Zinc (in the Swift and Zinc eps) and Slammin' Vinyl's Mike Slammer and Red Alert's first 2 releases. Bizzy also released many a classic on other labels such as Slowjam & DarkIII on Whitehouse, Stamina and Raw Dogs Relik on Suburban Base and many more. He's recently been producing 2-step and Breaks with his Undercover Agents label and still releases drum'n'bass under "Warped Science" (latest being 'After F' on Charge with DJ Fresh on the same ep). Brian's ep for us is a new update of the Old Skool sound "New Old School" if you will. Using todays production values so it'll kick in a drum'n'bass set in 04. As played by Andy C, Bailey et al...
