The first of, hopefully, many tracks from this collaboration of Knoxville funk maestros. 

For those who don't know, Baraka is not (in this case) the mortal kombat character. Baraka is Geoffrey Dean, a young jazz pianist/keyboardist with a serious background in fluttery synth melodies. Surely we will hear more from this fella in the future.

Eulogy

I was on a fishing trip to the Pocono mountains in Pennsylvania and managed to stop by the Valley Forge National Park with a friend. It was a very foggy early morning, and if you looked hard enough, you could see the ghosts of George Washington’s troops, marching and wading through the snow, tattered, but pushing forward to fight for the freedom of this country. It was chilling.

Hailing from Moscow, Phil Gerus adds his unique funk flavor to the growing diversity of the Symbols catalog. A classically trained pianist, Phil grew up playing in a family jazz trio which is an obvious influence on his sounds today. Widely exploring software such as Reaktor and Max/Msp, Phil has constructed a very unique world of synths, walking basslines and expertly crafted beats. Easy to get lost in and hard to come back from.
