Featuring band members from all over the planet, literally, Picnic blends folk, world, bluegrass, and rock elements on their new album, Dream of the Sun. Recorded on the coast of Maine during some characteristically cold and sea-blown weather, Dream of the Sun is an ode to the tropical-hammock-umbrella-drink paradise of Picnic's imagination. The album was engineered and mixed by Steve Drown (James Cotton, Charlie Musselwhite, Patty Larkin, Ron Carter) at The Studio in Portland, Maine.

The sound, instrumentation, and lyrics are drawn from many traditions – the rumba-inspired beats of Southern Africa (THANK YOU VUSI MAHLASELA FOR YOUR CAMEO) to the twang of old Kentucky Bluegrass, with excursions along the way to pick up steel drums, Mexican trumpets, and intricate gospel harmonies.

The Black Birds are an Austin, Texas based three-piece rock & roll band made up of  seasoned veterans from other notable bands. Wearing their musical influences like a badge of honor, you can hear moments reminiscent of The New York Dolls, The Runaways, Generation X and dare we even say....Chuck Berry. 

A band that doesn't rely on gratuitous guitar solos and complicated arrangements but rather stays focused on writing simple, heart-pounding, catchy rock songs with memorable hooks, and an energetic tempo.
