The long-awaited first official LP from Michigan-based producer Sango, North, will release digitally on Soulection July 23, 2013 with vinyl to follow. 

Sango’s North brings forth a new sound, one that pulls from soul, rnb, future bass, hip hop and broken beat fusing them together with seamless vocals chops and grooves. North features collaborations from a diverse group of artists like Australia’s Ta-ku, cinematic downtempo producer Atu, nu-soul singer JMSN, story-telling rapper WALDO, newcomer vocalist Brea and Dpat who produced ‘Remember You’ for Wiz Khalifa and The Weeknd. 

Following major worldwide support for his refixes, EP’s and beat tapes from the likes of Brownswood’s Gilles Peterson, KCRW’s Aaron Byrd, and Noisey (VICE) to name a few, Sango is poised to elevate the definition of what “future” music is. 

10+ casual releases later, North combines the best of Sango over the last few years into one seamless musical journey. North is a love story of two people, on a journey, who find better things in themselves when they are with each other. North in Hebrew as noted visually in the album art [that Sango designed himself], representing a sense of “heaven” or “glory” are symbolic to Sango, as he sees everything he does an artist for the greater glory, the greater good, as something bigger than himself.

 25 year old Essex born <a href="https://www.facebook.com/ItsNickBrewer">Nick Brewer</a> blurs the lines between hip hop and spoken word lyricism. Earning with his stripes with his empowering and honest poetic skills has seen him perk the ears of Island Records, with whom has just released his incredible Four Miles EP. Nick Brew recorded this spoken word piece for i-D and let us know what it really means to him.

"The sample at the end of the poem is taken from an interview with a man called Richard Cole; someone who I knew personally, and looked up to from a young age. RIchard Cole was from Sierra Leone, West Africa, and set up the LifeLine Nehemiah Project in 1992, shortly after the civil war broke out in Sierra Leone. The project set about rebuilding the lives of ex-child soldiers and young people affected by war. Rescuing many children from their uniquely dangerous situations, Richard sheltered them in his own home. 

Sadly, Richard Cole passed away in 2006, but his legacy lives on. Currently operating under the leadership of the same boys Richard adopted into his family, the Nehemiah Project still operates in Sierra Leone: Developing business; changing communities, building a nation.

'Spanish Sahara' is one of my favourite songs, which comes off my favourite album (Total Life Forever) by my favourite band, https://soundcloud.com/foals, so I couldn't stop myself from remixing this song.

I had the remix sitting around for about a year, then decided to pick it up again and spice it up by mixing in https://soundcloud.com/hellohonne - 'No Place Like Home (ft. https://soundcloud.com/iseejones)'. 

For me, the two songs sat well together and complimented each other in a new and interesting way. I really liked the contrast between Yannis' fragile and hushed vocals, and Honne's / JONES' smooth and strong verses.
