Sleeping Patterns

This album is presented as a portrait, its about growing up being influenced by the world around me, experiences that have shaped and molded me into who I am today. These feelings are expressed throughout my time as a musician and as a student, eager to push through life, being optimistic and hopeful seeing the road to to a brighter future, it's about living a carefree life without worry, being in love, getting heartbroken, falling in love again but learning from it, this is about my progress that I've made so far being in the music industry and how it has challenged my direction as an artist. It's been a journey with highs and lows, I've been writing these tracks for almost 2 years, I was heavily influenced by the club scene during this time and also started listening to more music that I wasn't really sure of but I've tried to remain true to myself which is why I put forward very abstract ideas into these songs, I explored what sounds were popular around my circles and I gave into working with more synthetic and mainstream samples but I decided to challenge them by adding some form of disruption through lighter drum hits and distorted arpeggiation, there is an element of deconstructionism in it which is seen in the artwork. I'm eager to connect with more and more people on an emotional and spiritual level through this piece of music, throughout the album these songs are heavy on the heart but that it is because they give out love. The album has a universal approach, I want to reach out to people who are willing to listen and send my love, I didn't want an ego attached to this project that would be harmful in the progression of others, it is about love, hope, inspiration, comfort, motivation, compassion, excitement and curiosity. Here's to the many more songs and events I share with the world.

Crackhead Ted

Black Math is a three piece band from Durban, South Africa. The band consists of Tyla Burnett-Bass Guitar, Cameron Lofstrand-Guitar/Vocals and Acacia Van Wyk-Drums. They are just three friends who went to school together and share a deep love for loud and heavy music. Black Math formed in 2010, they have since then made a name for themselves in the South African music scene and have grown into the power trio that they are today. Their sound is raw, unforgiving and will punch you in the face when you least expect it. They have developed their own unique sound that draws from genres like garage rock, psychedelic rock, stoner rock, punk and heavy metal. Their shows are very high energy, intimate and full of head banging (you will most likely leave the show with a sore neck). They strive to keep their music sincere and original and avoid current trends in sound and genre. They stand against all things made to be consumed by the masses and try to create something new and interesting. Black Math tries to make music that is thought provoking for all who wish to listen.
