The relationship between myself and formidable techno-trance duo Smith & Brown is one of deep mutual respect, and friendship based on lofty ideology. Responsible for multiple hits on BlackNet and with a reputation for delivering peak time weapons with enthusiasm and professionalism, it only felt right to invite them to remix one of my personal favourite tracks on the album, Renegade Bass. 

Rumbling kick drums, crispy percussion and dark chord stabs retain the feel of the original while distorting it through the lens of dark techno and acid rave. The result is a surrealist twist on the familiar, expertly transposed over to another genre entirely.

It all started in the basic concept of a remix of one of Sean Tyas’ dancefloor bangers from 2007…. Sean Tyas and Niko Zografos originally just intended to bring this monster up the the level of 2019 standards, but it took on its own character throughout the whole production process.  Cybernetic enhancements and genetic upgrades have led to an entirely new being… connected to the original yet completely standalone in its own right, leading us to not call it a remix at all… but an auditory “sequel”, if you will.

Meticulously (and we mean that, as this final version is actually the 63rd master) crafting the original vibe using old and new tools spread over 3 different machines and 2 DAWs, we bring you Drop Two, to experience this vibe today, 12 years after the original Drop was created.

One of the biggest and most iconic electronic anthems of all time returns to DIT for a second outing - this time with Orkidea taking over the controls for a version that more in keeping with the original Junior Boys Own mix than Greg Downey’s 2019 chart topping 138 smasher. Having stated on more than one occasion that this was a record that played a huge role in defining the Orkidea sound - it was match made in heaven to get Tapio the opportunity to put his stamp on Perfect Motion. We adore what he has done and feel it keeps the essence of that seminal mix that was such a staple peak time anthem for Sasha and Digweed back in the glory days fo Renaissance.
