A few years back, my friend Otis did a mixtape called ‘a time for peace’. It’s an effortless mix of melodic & vocally driven music which became a source of some of my favourite records that I was yet to discover. There was never a tracklist for it, but over the years, have found them serendipitously in record shops and had a few joyful moments when finally the needle drops on one of the tracks from this mix!
The past week has given me an opportunity to reflect on some of the records that I return to constantly, can get lost in & consider something else for a while. I hope that perhaps someone out there might find something in here that opens their ears to something new, can get lost in and one day have that needle drop moment too! Thanks to everyone who put me onto these records in one way or another.

2021 - We're here. We did it. To be honest, none of us are  currently going anywhere anyway.... so we may as well listen to some music. 

Hopefully, this - the very first GGHQ mix of the new year - is satisfactory to you - our hardcore listeners. 'Who's this Will Von Griz?' you may ask. Well, he's one of our oldest friends, one quarter of the infamous Special Needs crew, the former unofficial mayor of Graham Road, an OG sneaker expert and streetwear fanatic (way before it was 'a thing' - the quiver is real)and easily one of Barrow-In-Furness' deepest selectors. If you know, you already know! 

We've known Will for aeons, played records with him literally 1000's of times and found ourselves on some 'interesting' excursions together over the years. He's dropped this pepped up, sweaty bass driven mix on us, a celebration full of records are at least 3 decades old! Tons of classics and those energetic tracks. A proper sonic kick up the arse, basically. Amen brother.

We hope you like it as much as our neighbours have the last few weeks.
