“Welcome to 24 hours with an alien. My name’s Katya, I’m a London based DJ originally from Russia. The idea behind the takeover is that I’m going to be taking you on a day in my UFO, to many different planets each exploring a different genre. We’ll be starting somewhere deep under the Drexciyan sea with an electro set courtesy of Gunfinger Food & Mixtress. We’ll gradually head to space for Dr Watson’s set and make it all the way to Tres-2b, the darkest planet in the universe, for eXpressO’s set. After that we’re gonna start heading back to Earth for sunrise, listening to Jake Walker’s set along the way. We’ll make it to London for a day of UK bass, Garage & Funky. Once we finish up in London, we’ll make our way back to space with Dr Baird, Seven Hills Records, Tañ & Rough. We go back to the dark planet for an industrial techno & electro finish. In Tañ's own words:
This mix includes a lot of the sounds I’m listening to at the moment, so spans quite a range of styles. But in essence, it’s a lot of high energy music that makes me miss being in a dark club or afters somewhere. I feel like that’s how most people are feeling right now so I hope this resonates with whoever is listening. One of the good things to come out of this year is the amount of creative output and people using music to come together in the limited ways we can. I feel very fortunate to have so many talented friends who’s music I can showcase and share with other people.

Practical Rhythms Vol. 3

This track selection follows Ben’s Nightwork EP, released with YAM records in April. The title track ft Joe Armon Jones was selected by Mary Ann Hobbs on 6 music, and was praised by various selectors in the scene including Benji B, Moxie, Wbeeza and many more. 

The south Londoner is not new to applying his distinctive sound to different genres , with this release ranging from breaks to uk garage to acid house. Club music with no thrills. Simple and to the point . 
 Ben's music has often led to the more ‘musical’ or ‘jazzy’ side to dance music. With past features with the likes of Nubya Garcia, Joe Armon Jones, as well as writing credits on Oscar Jerome's Gravitate which features on his album Breathe Deep.  

 However, don’t expect any jazzy collaborations on this one. There is a conscious sense of no bullshit energy throughout this release. With tracks leaning more towards the sounds of Mr G as opposed to Ben’s more (as he puts) ‘Spotify friendly’ sound. 

ONE YEAR DANCE is a homage to relationships ending, and clubs. closing.
