I've been so inspired by the amazing DJs I've supported over the past few weeks - Patrick Topping, Henry Saiz... and I've been pinching myself - to be playing on the same stage as them (earlier but still), and other  incredible artists like Osunlade and Madmotormiquel.

In two days I will have been playing for 2 years. With the support and encouragement of a number of individuals, I have had the chance to play many times and at some really special events. Thank you to everyone who has booked me - to be trusted to bring a vibe is a privilege I do not take lightly.

In the last week or two I've been wishing I could experience one of my sets the way everyone else does. So not just the bigger soundsystem but for example  hearing a great afro house track for the first time, even if all the tracks were familiar, to not know what's coming next. I love the music I play, I think I have decent taste, but the phenomenal feedback I have been receiving especially recently - from my opening set at Patrick Topping's Trick show, to a 3 hour Revs close on 26 January, then my first festival set at Festival No. 23, and opening a packed front room at Revs for Hardware's Boris Afterparty then my set at Bourke Street Courtyard... it has been amazing and humbling.

All of your incredible words - the things you guys are saying to me... I know you aren't just being nice. I am delighted that my vibe is resonating with so many of you.

These are the tracks I played at Patrick Topping's Trick show in Melbourne on Saturday 14th January 2023. 

It's been over 3 weeks since Trick. I've had this mix ready to upload since then. But it has taken this long for it to finally sink in - Trick at Pica happened. 

Because there is no way I will ever hear my own set from the perspective of someone on the dancefloor, in the last few weeks I have had to accept that I actually really do bring quite a vibe. More so than I can understand from the business end. But. What's important is how much YOU love it. My joy comes from you - watching the dance floor as I play. Catching some emotion flit across someone's face. Mass bass face. Spontaneous rounds of applause. When I make you feel something through the tunes I I have found. 

Now that I have worked this out it all makes sense to me  Trick was not a dream, it was real, that was me. Just like every other amazing event. 

External validation shouldn't define anyone, but it's always lovely to receive enthusiastic positive feedback, especially early on in a career, and you have helped me see that I really am doing something right. I'm on the right track. 

I'll keep playing so long as I keep getting booked. So thank you. Black  Tiger would be nothing without your support. 

I don't own a recorder - if you want to hear a live set, at this stage you have to come see me in action IRL.  I personally like to relive my sets by recording them from history for SoundCloud - they are pretty close to the originals.
