'CAIRN' the new album is out now!

A unique collaboration of sight, sound and the past, being, reminiscences of Scotland.

It is a living memory. It is a collection of new music set to archival recordings of those who once lived in the Scottish Highlands and Islands discussing moments of childhood, folklore and people. It is a celebration of the more intricate moments of Scottish and Gaelic culture and a thank you to all it has given so far.

It is not just an album, it is not just a film. We are in the living rooms, we are in the kitchens and around the firesides drinking tea with these people from across time and getting to know them. My music is the radio playing in the corner and the emotions echoing through our minds.

They shall be our companions, our grandparents and our teachers. They had lived a whole life, let us offer them a chance for resurrection, let them tell you a story.

The title track from the new EP by Blair Coron, out August 18th. 'A Carrying Stream' grew from a desire to blend two musical lives, Scots traditional and contemporary classical. The melody is meditative and melancholy. Gentle humming and intimate creaks and sounds of the piano are intentional, transporting us to the living room of an old croft in the Highlands.

'A Carrying Stream' is also the companion to an ongoing exhibition, commissioned by the School of Scottish Studies Archives and Edinburgh Uni. Blair was invited to curate an immersive, deep listening experience inspired by archival recordings of people who lived in the Highlands and Islands in the early 20th Century. Open until September 30th, 30 George Square, Edinburgh.

'Dancing' grew from a desire to blend my two musical lives, Scots traditional and contemporary classical. A modern classical take on a Scottish Jig, concluding with a soft Air.

From the new EP 'A Carrying Stream', available to stream and purchase in all places your ears are drawn to. 

The music is also the companion to an ongoing exhibition, commissioned by the School of Scottish Studies Archives. Featuring new music, archival audio recordings of people who lived in the highlands and islands in early 20th century Scotland, discussing; folklore, moments of childhood and stories of daily life, with archival photographs and the original recording equipment used to document it all.

Song For Lismore is the second single from the new EP, A Carrying Stream. 

Joined by renowned fiddle and hardanger d'amore player, Charlie Grey. It is an ode to the Isle of Lismore, where Charlie resides. Blair would visit regularly & it became a special place over the years, planting trees, exploring caves, & discovering local folklore. Now, as Charlie prepares to move to the mainland, this song shall be their memory of Lismore.

Et Dieu...Créa La Femme

Blair Coron is a musician and poet from Springfield, a small village in Fife, Scotland. His quiet and intimate music blends modern classical, storytelling and traditional melodies, with themes of nature, people, time and place. Through music, words and cinematography, Coron's primary intention is to create enchanting atmospheres that sets course for introspection and connection to the landscapes surrounding us.

After the success of his debut album ‘On The Nature of Things’, Coron recently released his second album and accompanying film ‘Cairn', in collaboration with the School of Scottish Studies Archives and National Trust for Scotland and funded by Creative Scotland. It is a celebration of Scottish heritage, a thank you to all it has given so far, containing new music set to archival interviews of those living in the Highlands and Islands during the early 20th century discussing local legends, childhood reminiscences and traditions long forgotten.

Following this, he has been further commissioned by Edinburgh University and the School of Scottish Studies Archives to help curate a new exhibition made to enhance viewers' experiences and connections to visual and audio materials from the Scottish Archives. This is 'A Carrying Stream', situated at 30 George Square, Edinburgh and open until September 30th.

The music for this was also released separately as an EP on August 18th
