Great opening song for the list this week. Really summarises what makes “home” home. And i love the bass note in the end of the run in line 3.

Nice balance between the guitar and voice, not just levels, but also the strumming/vocals.  Also, I really like this theme/story - very touching - a timely and timeless idea.

THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL OMG, it's so perfectly written, it kept me smiling all the time.

Well it *sounds* great, as far as recording quality -- but I especially love the songwriting. It breaks the fourth wall a little bit, in a great way.

I really appreciate your metaphor! Cars, houses, relationships - deferred maintenance has the same effect on them all, and so does motivation and hard work!

Syel Offendell, Onward!

Of all the places I’ve traveled, I’ve never been to Mexico!!

I wrote this in 2018 with piano.  Many changes to this version: lyrics, chords, and I wrote a melody.  There are a number of rhythm problems, and perhaps one day the guitar will sound better, but overall a lot of improvements from the 2018 version.

Mexico

I lost one eye in Mexico
Traveling to avoid the winter snow
In the west, an amber crimson glow
From the sun in the sky down below

Back home, I covered my wound with care
A man looks up from his newspaper to stare

He offered wise words before my story had been heard

I’ve seen grass a little greener
I’ve seen streets a little cleaner
But down in Mexico was the last time I felt whole

(This song just poured out of me today, and it's only the second time I've adhered to theme this year :-D This is also my first attempt at simultaneously recording guitar and vocals using mics in GarageBand, so critique about that is welcome.)
