On several occasions, throughout various compositions of mine, I’ve emphasized how a melody or theme was based on something I wrote long ago, during my teenage years.
In this instance, the main theme is probably one of the very first things I ever composed—likely my first 'Eureka' moment, when I first gained some clarity about my musical gifts. Needless to say, this melody holds immense personal significance.
After all this time, I’ve finally decided to properly honor it by writing a set of variations.

Intro:

Woke up to the sound of rain,
Dripping through the ceiling stain.
Bills stacked high on the counter there,
Turn on the news—more hate in the air.

Verse 1:
Prices climb but my pay stays low,
Seems like everywhere I go,
People shouting, pointing blame,
No one listens, it’s all the same.

Pre-Chorus:
And I don’t know how much more I can take,
Feels like the ground is starting to break…

Chorus:
Oh, everything’s falling apart,
But I’m still here with a heavy heart.
Trying to hold on, trying to stand tall,
When the walls cave in and the raindrops fall.

Mama’s coughing, daddy’s weak,
Doctors say it’s getting bleak.
Kids got bruises, stitches tight,
Car’s in the shop, but they’re all right.
