Christiane Hommelsheim sings and plays on sound objects, Ralf Haarmann electronics and mandoline. With a central interest in loops, they create intertwined acoustic layers. Through the looper all sounds loose their corporality, they resolve within themselves, they appear and
disappear, they become soundfields, and soundshadows. Ocassionally a sentences might appear out of nowhere, and lingers unfinished in the space, like a piece of thought-furniture, that might develop within the ear of the listener before it retreats back out of focus. HAARMANNHOMMELSHEIM create poetics of absence, poetics of nothing.

All recorded at home with Magix DAW and a midi keyboard. Hope you find something you like.

👨‍👦 I learnt everything about the guitar by watching and listening to my dad, long before earning a music degree from Cambridge, which gave me the space to explore and produce music seriously.

🎸 Classically trained guitarist, with a deep love for jazz – my go-to genre and biggest inspiration.

 🥁 Occasionally, I dabble with percussion, using an Alesis Sample Pad to lay down rhythmic textures.

🛠️ I blend traditional guitar techniques with modern tech, using tools like Loopy Pro, GarageBand, and Logic Pro. My go-to guitar is a Yamaha Silent Guitar, routed through a Steinberg UR12 audio interface. For unique tones, I use apps like TAQS.IM synth and hardware like the Boss SY-200 for organ and bass sounds. I have not been paid to promote and other tech is available!

🎶 I’ve always gravitated towards fingerstyle players like Martin Taylor, and prefer sound over speed, in the vein of Eric Clapton. I lean towards simple, melodic lines rather than fast-paced licks – and I’ve never been too fond of the plectrum! My tracks are varied with hints of lofi and traditional Jazz with ambient easy listening.
