Our next premiere comes to us from French Label Monochrome, back again with a second installment of their VA series. In the second episode of Primärwald on Monochrome, a VA that continues its spiritual and tribal history. But now also exploring more Tribe and D&B paths. @vardaemusic  & @toe_music collaborate to deliver an energetic drum and bass number with haunting tribalesque vox and deep drums. Returning to his roots in live production, OTON shares the 4-track EP Aurora on his imprint Alliance Club. Following his previous neo-rave stylings on the label, Aurora is the product of hours spent in OTON's Brussels-based studio, where he worked with a DAW-less setup and a newly acquired tangle of gear. Such tools remained instrumental in crafting the sonically rich textures of Aurora and OTON's forthcoming album, New Forms Of Silence, drawing from a palette of mental techno, hypnotic tribe, and psy tek. Two tracks from the album—due for release in spring 2025—feature on Aurora, comprising the title track and 'Voltage Controls'. 

"I have always wanted to explore modular synthesisers and polyrhythmic sequencing, but I wanted to inject some of the sounds I've worked with previously, like psychedelic and trippy techno," says OTON. "So I built a modular and produced the album with it. I locked myself in my flat for three or four months and went into a full analogue workflow. Producing with hardware and machines is more natural and enjoyable for me. I'm more creative. And because my background is in composing and performing in bands, Aurora and New Forms Of Silence mark my return to the live set and my musical origins, and a new direction in my sound and process, shifting further and further away from the DAW." 

Fusing a misty soundscape with sheets of squelch, 'Aurora' opens the EP on a beatless note before morphing into a gnarly curveball, formed by an eerie violin-like melody, rubbery drums and squiggly motifs, provoking an atmosphere that's equal parts sharp, sinister and soft. 

On 'Quad Funktion', OTON whips up warbling polyrhythms and tinkling sonic FX, coalescing into an intricate tapestry of psychedelic ambience and relentless technoid drums. While there's no dramatic breakdown to signify a gear change, it's not needed. This is a wormhole for those hazy moments on the dancefloor post-sunrise. 

Shaped by a witchy backdrop and murky bassline, 'Full Reset' meshes visceral sounds that span gurgles and squirmy synths, writhing like snakes between leathery drums. Ideal for swift left-turns into darker, moodier territories. 

Closing out the EP on 'Voltage Controls', which features on OTON's upcoming album in Spring 2025, a combination of horn-like motifs, a melancholic melody and a glitchy soundscape form a fierce and fiery alchemy, building to an urgent, claustrophobic nightmare—a potent teaser of what else OTON has lined up on New Forms Of Silence. 


BCCO Premiere: OTON - Quad Funktion [ALC009]

We are glad to present the debut LP album from an artist within the Organic Signs family: @solmadj . One year ago, the French artist planted the seed of this sonic journey with his set at The Memoir by Hypnus Records. Now, that seed has fully blossomed, unveiling a collection of new creations. Eight tracks that define his sonic universe, where DnB, halftime, and tribe intertwine in an atmosphere of hypnotic textures and pulsating synths.

The journey begins with Wetlands, drawing us into a mist-laden landscape where solitary birds glide through the sky and the dense humidity clings to every breath. In the dim light, a deep, enveloping sound spreads through the air, merging with electrified gusts of wind. As we move forward, distant echoes of other life forms emerge, thriving in the space between water and earth.

The first heartbeats stir in Mud. Continuing the path set by its predecessor while subtly layering new elements, the track immerses us in mystical soundscapes, unlocking portals to uncharted dimensions. Percussive fragments, scattered across the stereo field, begin to surface tentatively, paving the way for Clay, where the hypnotic progression deepens.

With Spores, the rhythm evolves into 4x4, maintaining the ethereal essence that has permeated the album from the start. Percussion elements phase in and out, leading seamlessly into Trimitic, a stripped-down yet profound exploration of minimalist Tribe.

The album builds in intensity, reaching its peak with Fungal Network, an electrifying burst of energy crafted to set the dancefloor ablaze. Then, The Consciousness of Plants slows the pace once more, introducing a whispering voice and a synth that oscillates fluidly, pulling us into its meditative sway.

The journey culminates with Reset, where the tempo eases, and the narrative comes full circle. The echoes of birds return, this time illuminated by the clarity of a new dawn. With Liquid DnB rhythms and textures, Solma concludes his debut album with a farewell that lingers in the mind, resonating long after the final note fades.

‘Verdigris’ the new EP from Japanese artist Atsushi Izumi, is a deep dive into the crevice of the mind. It is an exploration of where fearful emotions lie and confronting them. 
It is only through this conflict that light can shine through in the end.
As an extra bonus to all this, there is a scintillating remix from ANFS. 
The Greek adds a bit of pace to the track Zeit. He is an artist who enjoys frantic distorted techno and it shows in this cut. 
He takes the basic elements but whereas the original slowly introduces the percussions, ANFS bangs straight in. It’s structured yet frantic and a massive sound.
