9-Pasaray Qafa

An old lady goes to the shores of the black sea with her young granddaughter. A place she had not been since the first time she came here. The grandma sadly stares into the distance. The sound of the waves and the salty see air brings back long abandoned memories. Her heart refuses to go back there, it hurts too much.  But it is impossible...her mind gets lost in thoughts she once fierce fully repressed.  The young girl notices and asks: Nana, why are you sad? The grandma first hesitates if her granddaughter is ready to hear the story of how her life here in Diaspora began, but then realises she cannot leave her granddaughter's questioning eyes unanswered. Because she realises that her past is her granddaughter's future. She carefully begins telling her story. Only a little girl she was, but the air and waves of the ocean bring back every detail as if it was yesterday. There, the land vaguely visible in the distance,  was her homeland Circassia, where she once lived happily with her beloved family. The day she, her mother, father, brothers and old sick grandfather were forcibly torn away from their homeland, as a unique, rare bonsai tree being torn out from its fertile grounds to be planted in the desert, she can never forget. The day their existence was destroyed as if it had been nothing, she will never forget.  She remembers the voice of her mother, crying in desperation while her sons were taken away from her, not knowing what would happen to them. She remembers the sounds of the crying horses that were left behind and followed their owners, who were forced into boats to cross the sea to a far, unknown country, into the water until they drowned. She remembers the silhouette of her grandfather fading away, sinking deeper and deeper into the water. The water that was made his cold grave by those in charge of the boats. Pain, fear, desperation, helplessness, indignity, starvation, dying babies..How can any person who did not experience this immense torture for themselves, understand the gravity of what happened in those black waters many years ago? 
The lady looks at her granddaughter and says: Yes my love, they tore us away from our homeland that our brave people defended for many years. Can a bonsai tree survive and be the same exact beautiful tree on other soils, that it once had been? The girl looks at the sea, points into the distance and says: That is my homeland, that is where we belong. I want to go back and live there. The old woman smiled as she felt proud that her young granddaughter understood it and said: they may take us out of our homeland, but they can never tore our homeland out of us. The Adygha nation is awaking.
