Sunday Morning is a mix series dedicated to pushing artists and labels who intend on pursuing the beauty in downtempo/chill-wave music. The focus is centered on experimental yet eloquent productions. This mix series is made in order to wind down and relax after a long night out, or simply listen to something other than dance music. I grew up with record labels like M3rck and Schematic based out of Miami, and have always searched for mixes which included these sort of sounds after a long weekend of traveling. Having not found many, I decided to make this a bi-weekly ongoing series including guest mixes.

END OF YEAR MIX 2024

We are definitely on a streak of warm and sunny days, and for our dance to May's full moon rising and the 58th chapter of Selene Series, we wanted to borrow some of the sun's energy. 

Is there such a thing as afternoon sunset forestal techno? I find that the vibe on those afternoon outdoor sets is also very similar to what i would like on a sunny morning outdoor afters set. And I have been inspired a lot by these kinds of moments and mixes lately. 

My ideal recipe for those instances is, in both cases, a selection in a slower tempo, with focus on groove, a very tamed dose of psychedelia, a flow that helps the body coast and is not that challenging for the brain. Either to ease you in for what's to come, or to ease you out. A touch of nostalgia and some feel good melodic elements. Let tracks breathe, less busy mixing, not too dramatic transitions. Drums, dub, organic elements... I don't know, that's me. 

For this month's mix we tried to convey that sound using the above ingredients. It is a live recording of a sunny afternoon set at Bar Theo a couple of weeks ago. Hoping you can feel the warm in this selection.

An Underground Resistance legend on the RA Underground Stage at Movement 2018. Does it get more Detroit than that? We return to host the stage once more this year, with LSD, Umfang, Ryan Elliott and more along for the ride.

DJing in his hometown of Belfast for close to 30 years, Blark AKA Blacky.  Seeing Carl Cox play at the legendary Vengeance raves in 1990s was where he first got bitten by the rave bug and hasn't looked back since. Some people say he’s actually been to more raves than Carl Cox has ;)

Alongside friend and fellow Cricky, they both started up the Cave nights in Belfast, bringing over acts like Pet Duo, Patrick DSP, Marco Bailey, Dan Ghenacia, Mark EG, James Ruskin to the city. It was through this the two started releasing music as Cave DJz, racking up almost 15 tracks to date. 

In more recent times, Blark has warmed up for some of the biggest names in techno and house played at festivals like Burning Man, Jika Jika, Life Festival, ifyouknow and AVA in Belfast. He’s also played in clubs all over Europe, including a lengthy stay in Ibiza, Griessmuehle in Berlin and Corsica Studios in London.
