Black Light Disco navigated the airwave chicanes to return to myhouseradio.fm with another shopping trolley full of musical goodies to satisfy even the most hungry of appetites. 

Coming straight in from the steam room in BLD Towers to take charge of the first hour was our resident, Goz, who cooked up a hot buffet that'll tantalise your taste buds in anticipation of our very special guests for this week. 

Taking us through the second hour are two stone cold solid house and disco DJs and Producers from Debrecen, Hungary, The Magic Track! 

The Magic Track comprises of Gio and DRJ. Gio was raised on classic house and techno, but was also influenced by the sound of the 80's electro and synth-funk sound. In his twenties he produced Drum & Bass, released more than 50 tunes worldwide and also managed a label called ‘Black   Seeds Recordings’.  After more than a decade of DNB he returned to the disco scene, using all that valuable previous experience and the skills he’d learned to do something new. 

Gio’s partner in crime is DRJ (formerly known as Dr. Juzztice). DRJ was raised on 80's pop, indie, and UK punk and first played as a DJ 20 years ago in local bars community radio stations. Along with his former crew, DRJ was the promoter of a chillout venue at a local festival for more than a decade. DRJ loved playing slower genres such as dub, downtempo and later he was very much into broken beat and nu jazz genres. Although he was always spicing his mixes with some funk he finally fell in love with disco.

Their career as producers started last year with ‘And Friends Records’, and since then The Magic Track has seen releases on labels such as Mango Sounds, Hive, Hot Digits and Furious Mandrill. They also have a forthcoming EP on the massive Tropical Disco Records as well as three vinyl records releasing in 2021. 

Us folk at BLD absolutely love these guys and we are, of course delighted to showcase their unique talent for their debut with us.

BLD 28th June 2021 with Goz & The Magic Track

Samosa Funk touched down on the myhouseradio.fm landing pad with a cargo full of funk inspired care packages to lift those Monday blues. 

First up for Volume 15 of Samosa Funk is De Gama. Displaying nerves of steel as he steps up to pick his spot from 12 yards, this is something a little different from the master of Slam-Dunk Funk. Featuring tracks from Luca C & Brigante, Tommy Stewart, Daniele Patucchi, Uptown Funk and RaBo & SnoB - this is De Gama at his best, letting the music flow like plasma through a conduit. 

For the second hour, Les Inferno is laying down the dynamite jams picked directly from his crates (which we believe are located in a secret warehouse somewhere in Rome). A Les Inferno set for Samosa Funk is always an education, and this is no different. Classics from the likes of Roy Ayres, Le Pamplemousse, Eddie Russ, Brass Construction and the late, great Ian Dury are featured in an hour that will melt your conscience into a funk pulp.

Samosa Funk Vol 15 feat De Gama and Les Inferno

It’s been a a scorcher out there this week, people - and Black Light Disco breezed back on the myhouseradio.fm airwaves with a Summer Special that’ll have you dancing in your paddling pools and reaching for the Factor Funk! 

Hosting the show from the sun terrace at BLD Towers this week was our resident Esteban aka Ste Hendry - who was dishing out ice-cold refreshments from The Magic Track, Disco Suicide Club, HP Vince, Joe Cleen, Natasha Kitty Kat and Dexter Jones to name but six! 

Over the next two weeks we are thrilled to present a takeover of the BLD airwaves by the superb ‘Project Bango’. We kick things off with Part 1 this Monday and Part 2 (logically) following next week. 

So what is Project Bango? Well, its is the successful club brand created by DJ’s Lee ‘Evil’ Smarty and Paul Groves. What started out as a bit of fun and a desire to showcase some great music, rapidly morphed into an instant hit in their hometown of Guildford. As avid record collectors of both old and new music, their DJ style can be as varied as their taste in music. Whilst they’re best known for filling dancefloors with infectious basslines, disco-funk, edits and house, ‘Evil’ and Paul enjoy playing just about anything as long as it’ll put a smile on people’s faces.

First up for this takeover is the amazingly talented and all-round lovely ooman bean, Paul Groves. Paul discovered the delights of DJ’ing in the early 90’s and could regularly be found bringing upfront party-house vibes to bars, clubs and underground parties throughout London and Brighton. After taking a ten-year break from DJ’ing, Paul re-discovered his love of dance music in 2010 with a particular focus on the emerging edits/disco scene and has enjoyed being part of the scene ever since.

We just know that this is gonna delight you in ways you never thought was possible.

This week's Spin City Show that aired on myhouseradio.fm 1st August 2021 saw the return of our incredible resident Wahine on hosting duties. For her set, she used a live recording from one of her recent gigs in Atlanta, Georgia. As you would expect, this is another knock-out hour of high-class music. 

For the second hour of the show, Wahine passed the baton over to her guest from the south of France, Alex Visciglio AKA VIGI --an incredibly talented DJ/Producer whose first album, "Rhodes Island" (released late last year on NDYD ) made a huge impression on top taste-makers in the scene. From downtempo to deep house to disco, VIGI's productions are equal parts polished and soulful. This mix was oozing quality from start to end from a guy at the top of his game. Disco 2021

This week’s special guest is Gregg Holmes AKA Fingerman, a DJ, producer and label owner who is a major player on the disco scene . 

Originating from Brighton, UK and currently based in Belfast, Fingerman has moved between styles over the years,  ranging from Techno to House before firmly finding his feet with Disco. He set up a vinyl residency at the legendary Casablanca Jazz club spinning strictly extended disco twelves which led to his own DJ friendly edits surfacing on Soundcloud and Bandcamp.

His editing style soon caught the ears of many respected DJs on the scene such as Dimitri in Paris and Greg Wilson (who has charted Fingerman edits consecutively for 5 years even to the point of releasing a few of them on his own vinyl imprint A&R edits)

Fingerman released a number of tracks and and remixes on labels such as Midnight Riot, Masterworks, Hotbox Boogie, Wall Of Fame and Discodat over the years, before setting up his own record label “Hot Digits Music” in 2014. The label, alongside vinyl only offshoot “Wax Digits”, has been placed at the coveted number one slot on Juno on several occasions, and has released up and coming, established editors and original artists such as Dr Packer, Hotmood, Late Nite Tuff Guy, OOFT!, Situation, Get Down Edits, Dave Gerrard, Andy Buchan, P-Sol and Melon Bomb to name but a few. 

He has been Doing around the world and the UK for many years, also putting on roadblock proportion parties at Brighton Gay Pride for 5 consecutive seasons in the Summer.

He also hosts a weekly two-hour show on Street Sounds Radio

The idea of Black Light Disco became a real thing when a few like-minded DJs and producers came together to put on a night showcasing the very best in disco, house and funk and everything in between. We announced ourselves on a gorgeous sunny Saturday in June 2019 with an all day and night party in Liverpool’s thriving Baltic Triangle area. It was the start of something very special. 

We have a solid core group of musical talent residing in BLD Towers hailing from England, Scotland, Wales, Northen Ireland and Italy -  providing perfectly cooked grooves and juicy basslines. 

The BLD team comprises of Esteban, Goz (Spin City), Pookie Knights, Cole Kutz (Opentempo.fm) De Gama and Fingerman (Hot Digits) – clocking up decades of DJ’ing and dancefloor experience between us. As individuals, the BLD team have been producing consistently high quality sets over the last few years. Now, as a collective, the aim is to make Black Light Disco THE place to promote new music and to bring you the very best in established/up-and-coming artists and producers in the sunlit uplands of sonic pleasure. 

In January 2020, we launched a weekly show on THE biggest house music FM radio station in New York, MyHouseRadio.fm (also available digitally at www.myhouseradio.fm).  The Black Light Disco Show airs every Monday exclusive to MyHouse Radio between 7pm – 9pm GMT (2pm -4pm EST), bringing you the finest in disco, funk and boogie; all delivered by our expert in-house Sonic Consultants (resident DJs) with guest mixes from the hottest producers, DJs and artists out there right now.
