Black Light Disco is back and tripping the light fantastic on the myhouseradio.fm airwaves, ready and indeed willing to soothe your soul kick the melancholy out of your brain housing.
 
This week it’s Goz sitting in the residents chair, and he’ll be guiding you through the first hour with a smug face and whimsical chicanery. He’s been tending to the plants and flowers in the roof garden here at BLD Towers (whilst the weather has been nice), so expect your Phormium and Azaleas to get involved if they’re in listening distance.
 
Joining Goz this week is a very, very special guest from Italy – Lego Edit!
 
Not much is known about this mysterious producer, and we suspect that’s how he prefers it. We do know, however, that he has been DJ’ing and producing music from his home in Bologna since 1985 and that his edits, reworks and productions have been thrilling us for many years. Each Lego Edit release is a funky, vibrant creation that demands your attention. A master of soul, funk and afro, this guy knows the game inside and out.

Goz & Lego Edit - Black Light Disco 20th June 2022

Black Light Disco took over the the myhouseradio.fm airwaves again with a special take-over show to tickle your fancy. 

Last week's show was a special double header takeover event featuring ‘Edit Presents’ stalwarts Faz and Grant Holmes. 

First up is Faz (aka Steve Farrell) with a set bubbling with funky riffs and disco goodness. A DJ since 1995,  Faz is a resident DJ for Edit Presents in Manchester and can be found popping up on various flyers for events around the North West of England. Faz’s style fits perfectly with BLD, and we’ve been honoured to have played alongside him at some of our recent BLD events. 

Taking over for the second hour is Grant Holmes. When not on ‘Edit Presents’ and ‘Retro’ duties Grant has played at various nights and festivals such as Alfresco Festival Kent, The Beat Herder Festival Clitheroe, Glitter Babe, Gorilla and The Refuge in Manchester, La Discotheque at Manchester’s Albert Hall and The Day and Headroom in Burnley to name but a few.  Grant’s early teenage years (luckily) coincided with the boom of the illegal Blackburn Warehouse Parties and Acid House music explosion in the UK, and this is where his love of house music was forged. 

We’re delighted to have these two onboard for this BLD special, and know you’re going to love what these genuinely boss pair of lads have in store for you.

The first hour of episode 85 was an eclectic affair and heavy on the promos, with new bits from Funk Hunk, Sam Redmore, Folkness and others, along with something brand new and a little bit different from me. We covered the bases of nu disco, classic disco, funk, global beats, deep house and more on this little magical mystery tour. 

In the second hour I was filled with joy to hand over to my disco brother Guney Capo, AKA Dr Disco. Guney hails from Gutersloh, Germany and is a talented DJ, producer, label boss and promoter and all round very busy man. He’s starting a brand new night in the area on the 29th July in association with We Funk You Bookings and Deck-O-Dance agency, and I urge you to check it out if you’re in Germany.

Living up to the Dr Disco name, we’re treated to an exquisitely selected mix of only the finest, heavy disco infused cuts. Leaning heavily on hidden disco gems, but mostly consisting of seriously beefed up edits with a whole lot of extra punch, this mix is really something special. Vibes all the way!

Co-host Greg Middleton was back at the FGFS controls this week, broadcasting from a scorching hot London, with yet more summer sizzlers for your ears - some new bits hot off the press, a couple of tracks from the vaults, and a nod to legendary Motown song-writer, Lamont Dozier, who sadly passed away this week.

We're also delighted to welcome Tony Perkins for this week's guest mix. Tony has been spinning tunes since 1987 and the very early days of house music. Over the years Tony has played for Babooshka at Air In Birmingham, Gatecrasher in Nottingham, to name but a few. 

In more recent times, he's been playing a lot of disco and nu-disco and this year has been no exception. Tony has been playing at events such The Gathering in Cleethorpes, Woodlands Disco Festival and Gloworm Festival both in Nottingham, with a gig in Ayia Napa coming up in September. 

You can also catch Tony every Saturday afternoon, 3 to 4pm, on House Fusion Radio.

Charly Angelz spent the best part of 2020 working in the studio
during the COVID lockdown producing a string of house & disco tracks in the process! Having lost her DJ residencies like so many other DJ’s due to the pandemic, Charly quickly decided to act on her creativity by jumping into the world of music production!

Charly's first forays into making music coupled with her broad music knowledge and influence has helped her gain instant recognition!, with her tracks being signed to the likes of Tropical Disco, Plastik People, Kolour Recordings, Nervous Records, Blockhead Recordings, Smashing Trax, Disco Balls, Groovy Riddim and more!

With plenty of support from many reputable DJ’s, numerous high
chart positions including number 1’s. Charly is already accomplishing her goal by connecting with people through her
music. She’s on a mission to bring people together; especially
during these tough times and she’ll continue to strive to make
people groove and feel happy!

The Black Light Disco show airs exclusively on the #1 house music station on the planet - myhouseradio.fm. Tune in every Monday from 2pm-4pm EST, 7pm-4pm GMT, 8pm-10pm CET. 

The idea of Black Light Disco became a real thing when a few like-minded DJs and producers came together to put on a night showcasing the very best in disco, house and funk and everything in between. Our ethos is based around a very simple concept: GOOD MUSIC, GOOD TIMES with GOOD PEOPLE. We announced ourselves on a gorgeous sunny Saturday in June 2019 with an all day and night party in Liverpool’s thriving Baltic Triangle area. It was the start of something very special. 

We have a solid core group of musical talent residing in BLD Towers hailing from England, Scotland, Wales, Northen Ireland and Italy -  providing perfectly cooked grooves and juicy basslines. 

The BLD team comprises of Esteban, Goz (Spin City), Pookie Knights, Cole Kutz (Opentempo.fm) De Gama and Fingerman (Hot Digits) – clocking up decades of DJ’ing and dancefloor experience between us. As individuals, the BLD team have been producing consistently high quality sets over the last few years. Now, as a collective, the aim is to make Black Light Disco THE place to promote new music and to bring you the very best in established/up-and-coming artists and producers in the sunlit uplands of sonic pleasure. 

In January 2020, we launched a weekly show on THE biggest house music FM radio station in New York, MyHouseRadio.fm (also available digitally at www.myhouseradio.fm).  The Black Light Disco Show airs every Monday exclusive to MyHouse Radio between 7pm – 9pm GMT (2pm -4pm EST), bringing you the finest in disco, funk and boogie; all delivered by our expert in-house Sonic Consultants (resident DJs) with guest mixes from the hottest producers, DJs and artists out there right now.
