Black Light Disco exploded onto the MyHouse Radio airwaves with an early Easter Special to get you in the groove for the upcoming Chocolate Day!

Hosting the show this week from the observatory atop BLD Towers our resident Esteban was setting his telescope onto numerous disco constellations and heavenly funk bodies.

With this being a BLD Special, we welcome a real bonafide star of the scene to take on the guest duties for the second hour - the one, and the only Moodena! 

Where do you start with this guy’s CV? Moodena (aka Tim Burnett) is co-owner of the immense Tropical Disco Records as well as an über talented producer who rightly landed the coveted Number 1 spot for Traxsource artist of 2020. Also an in-demand remixer who has recently worked with the likes of The Sunburst Band and Dave Lee, extremely talented DJ - Moodena has it all in his bag of magic. And with all that talent comes a quality that’s equally as important - you couldn’t meet a more down to earth and decent chap. 

Moodena’s influence on the disco scene can’t be understated. His tracks ooze with high-end quality and the attention to detail in his music is second to none. BLD Towers has been a frothing atmosphere of expectation all week, and we are literally beside ourselves to land Moodena for his BLD debut. This is one not to be missed. Fixed penalties will be issued if you do.

After making their debut on Release Sustain's Conclave Series 06 with a super floor filler named "Heat," the veteran Danish duo is ready to release their first EP on R/S.

These dub techno veterans have been releasing high-quality music on labels including 3rd Wave Black, Minimood, Ranges, Taped Artifact, and Mouche since their comeback in 2015.
Merv's music productions date back to the mid-1990s, and they're known for classic dub tracks like "Dust" and "Melted Vein." Three original tracks geared for dancefloors are included in this new EP. With Apache's Acid version, Prince Apache is on remix duties. The Cordial EP will be released on Release Sustain may 20th.

Jackin Up The Mischief

It's time for the Black Light Disco Show to swing into action again - here we have the show which aired on myhouseradio.fm on Monday 17th May 2021.

Hosting the show from the Study Room deep within BLD Towers is resident Esteban, who has been preparing his Proton Plasma Pack, P.K.E Meter and Neutrona Wand all weekend to atomise some freaky spectral apparitions. Expect much crossings of the streams with super-charged music from Chilly Gonzales, Brothers In Arts feat N2N, Corrado Alunni, Boogie Traxx, HP Vince, Henry Navarro and a few more. 

Appearing in the guest booth tonight is a classy, sassy lady from Germany making her debut on Black Light Disco- La Fusa! La Fusa has been on our radar for some time now, always bringing her A-Game wherever she pops up. Recent developments have seen her move into production and the launch of a new record label, Funk You! La Fusa’s sets are magical, flowing, musical journeys and we know she has put her heart and soul into this tonight. It’s going to be another BLD classic, you can be sure of that!

Since the Drop Out Orchestra began in 2008, the project has grown from one man and a sampler to a studio team consisting of a music teacher, a studio engineer and a music tech writer. What has remained constant is the mystery regarding their true identity with no names or pictures, ensuring the focus remains on their music.

To date, the troupe have had some seriously big releases, including their Daft Punk cover "International Track", (Released as Drop Out City Rockers, crowned "Essential Tune of the Week" on Pete Tong's BBC Radio 1 show and charted at #1 by Fatboy Slim!) their single 'Baby Come Home' and their impeccable remixes of acts like Paul Weller, Flight Facilities, Mario Basanov and Ilija Rudman.

In addition to these official releases Drop Out Orchestra delight in reworking some of pop music’s most iconic figures with the likes of Rick Astley, Robyn, Craig David and The Ramones already treated to the Drop Out magic. Over the last few months they have received huge amounts of love from dance music maestro's such as Aeroplane, Greg Wilson, Jaymo & Andy George, The Magician, Fatboy Slim, Tronik Youth, Mylo, Chris Coco, Annie Mac, Classixx, Laidback Luke, Seamus Haji & more.

The dropouts have set out to deliver a dj performance out of the ordinary with added live bass and percussion playing on top of an intense mix of unique edits, loops and acapellas. Since their live debut just before Christmas last year the touring orchestra - consisting of two people - have played a string of gigs in their native Sweden and all over Europe, including EGO in Hamburg, rated by DJ Magazine as one of the 100 best clubs in the world.

Taking you through the fist hour of the show from our Laboratory of Aural Medicine deep within BLD Towers are our two disco Senseis - Pookie Knights. It’s another spectacular tour de force from these two maestros from Wrexham, North Wales.

Our very, very special guest for this week is a guy who is on the line up of the enormously huge ‘Edit Presents’ - Tobie C! Tobie has been DJing since the late 90s, with early residencies in Huddersfield and Leeds. He was DJ magazine Raw Talent Winner 2005 and has played alongside stellar names on the scene such as DJ Pierre, Justin Unabomber, Marshall Jefferson, Full Intention, Graeme Park, Justin Robertson, Opolopo, DJ Spen, CJ Mackintosh, Late Nite Tuff Guy, Dave Lee and Grant Nelson to name but a few. 

You can currently find him on rotation @ Gorilla Bar in Manchester, with upcoming gigs with John Morales, Natasha Kitty Katt, Yam Who, Supernature Disco & Jaegerossa - things are looking pretty bright for Tobie. We’re delighted to have him on the show for his debut on BLD and know you’re gonna absolutely love what he has in store.

The Black Light Disco show flew into the myhouseradio.fm funk jet stream with the throttle on full tilt and thrusters at max. 

Taking you through the fist hour of the show is Esteban aka Ste Hendry, who will be flying at a relatively low altitude and dusting those disco crops. He’s armed with a payload including Mix & Fairbanks, Dominic Balchin, Jonk & Spook, Jack Tennis and a few other surprises along the flight path. 

For the second hour, we welcome the supremely talented producer, DJ, remixer and all round top dude, - Boogietraxx. 

A much admired rhythmic renovator of retro funk, Boogietraxx offers a lens into the discoverse that brought dance music to the masses  - but with a uniquely soulful and modern twist.

Born in Staten Island, NY and now living in Austin, Texas for the last few years, Boogietraxx, is helmed by Brandon Keeks (who’s also ½ of Hot Fun). Brandon brings an array of influences in his soundscapes that feature filter house, French touch, and filter funk. The guy is phenomenally popular with the residents here in BLD Towers, and we know he’s gonna make the best of impressions with his debut set for us.  You don’t want to miss this. No sir.

For our first exclusive Black Light Disco guest mix, we're very honoured to have the one and only...Smashed Atoms! 

Smashed Atoms is the musical alter-ego of Steve Gladdis, a North-London-based producer and DJ. Starting his musical journey as a drummer, Steve began DJing in the late 1990s, manning the decks at underground parties, bars and clubs in London throughout the next two decades.  

In recent years, he has turned his considerable talents to production, releasing his first EP, Solar Flare in 2014. Since then he’s released a number of EPs, put out two 12" vinyl releases on his own Magic Circles Music label and has featured on compilations from Paper Disco, Hot Digits and Stripped Recordings.

Cut This Way, which became the lead track on the fourth Smashed Atoms EP, featured in sets from Greg Wilson, Peza and Chris Massey, catching the ear of Gregg Holmes aka Fingerman, who released the EP on Hot Digits Music. Cut This Way deservedly hit number one in Juno download's disco chart, with airplay on Nemone's Electric Ladyland show on BBC Radio 6 Music. 

A new Smashed Atoms EP will arrive soon and which features a collaboration with singer Kathy Diamond. Steve has included a track from the new EP, -  'All The Time' exclusively in this mix.

Steve loves the ethos of the eras just before, and just after, the original disco peak period - when DJs played music from any genre as long as it sounded good on a dancefloor, and he brings that eclectic approach to his DJing and productions.

Here at BLD we're huge admirers of his and we're absolutely delighted to have him on board for this exclusive guest mix. You're gonna love it!

For our third show (which aired on NYC's MyHouse Radio on Monday 20th January 2020) we handed over the whole two hours to our dynamic duo and jewel in the BLD crown, Pookie Knights.

Hailing from Wrexham in Wales, Pookie Knights have been with us from the very early beginnings of Black Light Disco and are firmly part of the BLD family. To see these two play live is an experience that shouldn't be missed. Their sets are always full of raw, disco energy and that energy has translated seamlessly into their own productions. With their first release out on Spin Cat Music, it's only a matter of time before you'll see Pookie Knights topping the likes of Juno and Traxsource download charts.

Airing on NYC's MyHouse Radio on Monday 3rd Feb 2020, Black Light Disco resident Sonic Consultants Dirty Old Vinyl and Goz were on hosting duties providing their unique brand of funky, slinky vibes. These two need no introduction, having built a solid following over the last couple of years individually and forging a reputation for consistently delivering sets of spectacular quality. Black Light Disco simply wouldn't be Black Light Disco without them, and this two hour show showcases the very best of their talents.

For the Black Light Disco show which aired on MyHouse Radio Monday 10th Feb 2020 we had a very special guest - Gary Jones (aka Gazzz696). Hailing from Wrexham in North Wales, Gary has built a huge, huge subscriber base on his YouTube channel (almost 77k at the last count)and has a solid reputation for giving plays ahead of release on respected labels such as Tropical Disco, Samosa Records, Whiskey Disco and Toy Tonics to name but a few. We were delighted to have Gary on as a guest on Black Light Disco and his set absolutely knocked it out of the proverbial park!

Black Light Disco Show 10th Feb 2020 - Esteban & Gary Jones (Gazzz 696)

Black Light Disco burst back onto the My House Radio airwaves on 1st March with another Circus of Disco Delights to brighten the Monday malaise. 

Our Ringmaster for this one is BLD resident Ste Hendry (aka Esteban) who was twiddling his tailcoat and ramping up the hyperbole for the biggest, most amazing spectacular Disco show on earth. 

Expect funky trapeze acts and acrobats for the first hour. No clowns allowed though! 

In the guest seat for this one is a multi-label owner, producer, DJ and music making machine from Moscow, the supremely talented and tireless Igor Gonya! 

Igor’s labels have been putting out quality tunes for quite some time now on both vinyl and digital formats. Lisztomania Records, See-Saw and Sundries have been releasing disco and deep house at a relentless pace. Releases in 2020 included tracks and EPs on big hitters like Tropical Disco, Mango Sounds and Super Spicy Records whilst 2021.

We’ve been huge fans of Igor’s work for ages and we couldn’t be happier to have him make his full debut on Black Light Disco. This comes with a full guarantee of good time shenanigans, and we’d love you to join us.

The Black Light Disco show airs exclusively on the #1 house music station on the planet - myhouseradio.fm. Tune in every Monday from 2pm-4pm EST, 7pm-4pm GMT, 8pm-10pm CET. 

The idea of Black Light Disco became a real thing when a few like-minded DJs and producers came together to put on a night showcasing the very best in disco, house and funk and everything in between. Our ethos is based around a very simple concept: GOOD MUSIC, GOOD TIMES with GOOD PEOPLE. We announced ourselves on a gorgeous sunny Saturday in June 2019 with an all day and night party in Liverpool’s thriving Baltic Triangle area. It was the start of something very special. 

We have a solid core group of musical talent residing in BLD Towers hailing from England, Scotland, Wales, Northen Ireland and Italy -  providing perfectly cooked grooves and juicy basslines. 

The BLD team comprises of Esteban, Goz (Spin City), Pookie Knights, Cole Kutz (Opentempo.fm) De Gama and Fingerman (Hot Digits) – clocking up decades of DJ’ing and dancefloor experience between us. As individuals, the BLD team have been producing consistently high quality sets over the last few years. Now, as a collective, the aim is to make Black Light Disco THE place to promote new music and to bring you the very best in established/up-and-coming artists and producers in the sunlit uplands of sonic pleasure. 

In January 2020, we launched a weekly show on THE biggest house music FM radio station in New York, MyHouseRadio.fm (also available digitally at www.myhouseradio.fm).  The Black Light Disco Show airs every Monday exclusive to MyHouse Radio between 7pm – 9pm GMT (2pm -4pm EST), bringing you the finest in disco, funk and boogie; all delivered by our expert in-house Sonic Consultants (resident DJs) with guest mixes from the hottest producers, DJs and artists out there right now.
