Happy New Year! 

Black Light Disco returned to the MyHouseRadio.fm airwaves with a spectacular start to the New Year - a 2 hour special from Pookie Knights. 

After taking down the festive decorations here at BLD Towers, we're looking forward to the future and a brand new year. And what better way to start than the Pookie Knights lads 'giving it all that' with a two hour set that will take you down the rabbit hole, give you a new tattoo on your ass and send you off into the sunset with a crisp high-five.

After finding the rave scene in 1990, Lee bought his first set of decks a year or two later. Initially influenced by the music in the North West and clubs like Legends (Warrington), The Quad, Cream, The Hacienda he started his music collection and would play at parties, the odd bar gig and create mixtapes for friends.

Fast forward to the turn of the decade (and century!), now living in London, Lee was part of an underground party collective called Most Excellent, putting on parties at various South London venues such as Brockwell Park Lido and The Telegraph (Brixton), playing classic, funky and soulful house music playing alongside a few notable guests like Trevor Fung and Stuart Patterson. 

After a break of about 10 years to get married and start a family, he started listening to the likes of Fingerman, LNTG, The Reflex and was hooked on the underground edits and disco scene. The decks were dusted off and he started to buy music again…

Lee is now proud to be part of the #DiscoWaltons family, a DJ, Producer and music fan collective who frequent the chatrooms of some of the best music shows and livestreams available to humankind!

Wilson Frisk hails from Bradford, Yorkshire in the north of England. Like many other Dj's Wilson started his musical journey collecting music as a young teenager doing compilations for his friends. In 1994 Wilson started a music fanzine called 'Jackyard Backoff' with his late friend Chris Stephenson which covered the music scene in the north of England. Around 1995 Wilson became involved with a very successful club night called 'Spice' which was his first stint at Dj'ing playing Broken Beat, Acid Jazz, Hip Hop, Soul and jazz......Wilson has now firmly established himself in the House/Disco scene holding down residencies in Bradford, Leeds and Huddersfield and been involved with infamous club nights such as Back2Funky, Uno House, Our House, Afro Coalition, Way2Funky, Wallop, GYGO and The House Of Phunk. Currently Wilson is one of the Boombox  Stereo residents who play at the mighty BeatHearder Festival and part of the 4Playdjs Collective who play at the Solfest Festival in Cumbria.  ..  Wilson is known for his smooth mixing style, taking you on a musical journey dipping in and out of all genres of House music but keeping it in his Jackin', Funky, Disco style that he's renowned for!

The idea of Black Light Disco became a real thing when a few like-minded DJs and producers came together to put on a night showcasing the very best in disco, house and funk and everything in between. Our ethos is based around a very simple concept: GOOD MUSIC, GOOD TIMES with GOOD PEOPLE. We announced ourselves on a gorgeous sunny Saturday in June 2019 with an all day and night party in Liverpool’s thriving Baltic Triangle area. It was the start of something very special. 

We have a solid core group of musical talent residing in BLD Towers hailing from England, Scotland, Wales, Northen Ireland and Italy -  providing perfectly cooked grooves and juicy basslines. 

The BLD team comprises of Esteban, Goz (Spin City), Pookie Knights, Cole Kutz (Opentempo.fm) De Gama and Fingerman (Hot Digits) – clocking up decades of DJ’ing and dancefloor experience between us. As individuals, the BLD team have been producing consistently high quality sets over the last few years. Now, as a collective, the aim is to make Black Light Disco THE place to promote new music and to bring you the very best in established/up-and-coming artists and producers in the sunlit uplands of sonic pleasure.

London-based DJ, producer and radio host Even Funkier weaves together Disco, Funk, House, Soul, Boogie, Jazz, Hip Hop and Global delights to create something fresh, irresistibly funky and downright groovy. He plays tunes from across the decades, genres and BPMs, mixing up hidden gems with tried and tested favourites, with a focus on sweet, sweet Disco music brought right up to date for modern dancefloors.

As a DJ he’s taken his trademark rollercoaster genre-fluid sets to locations including Glastonbury, ADE and Westival, playing parties for Midnight Riot, Good Custard, Project Bango, Pineapple Police Horse and DiscNoTheque. And as a producer he’s released on over 20 labels labels including Tropical Disco, Hot Digits, Mango Sounds, The Disco Express, Midnight Riot and TheBasement Discos.
