From Disco To House (Crop Of Music Radio Ibiza) - Guest Mix

Welcome to my new, monthly show on NDC Radio - called BEYOND BORDERS :)

I've been busy digging away in my digital and vinyl crates to pull together the first episode, which broadcasted on NDC Radio, 9-11pm Friday 31st March 2023.

Criss-crossing the boundaries of house, disco, nu disco, global grooves and beyond… selections include newer, up-front cuts, forgotten gems and rarities, b-sides, and the odd well-placed classic.

Each month it’ll be a new 2 hour mix with minimal level of chat...just quality, underground music!

Peak time vibes, lots of driving basslines, funky, jazzy, synth and acid-laced melodies, organic percussion, rock solid vocals... all the ingredients to maybe transport you to a smoke filled, dark, sweaty club, dancing with friends, big smile on your face :)

This week's guest is Vickie Vibe, who treats us to a delicious set of uplifting tunes for the second hour.

** VICKIE VIBE BIO **
Vickie Vibe has been a professional club DJ for over 25 years playing at some of London’s top clubs, Heaven, The Cross & Sway to name but a few.

As a young kid she dreamed of being a dancer and went on to train at The Old Vic in London in her teens. Graduating in 1994, she met her husband Mat who introduced her to DJing. She fell in love instantly. Having had a great love for music from a very young age, Vickie would spend hours listening to old records and creating mix tapes.

Her career started as a house and trance DJ back in the 90s, where she could be found every week behind the decks or on the dance floors of legendary clubs Turnmills, The Cross, Bagleys & The End to name but a few.

In the early 2000s she discovered her passion for soul and house music. Installing sound systems for Soul City and Soul Heaven she was inspired by some of the finest DJs in the world, Dave Lee, Paul Trouble Anderson, Booker T, Karizma, Spen and many more. This ignited her obsession with soul, rare groove, boogie, disco and house music. Her wide and diverse taste in music can be felt today in her uplifting, feel good DJ sets.

Hot Digits Musics annual compilation has arrived just in time for the summer! As usual it’s another all EXCLUSIVE dive into the world of underground disco, Balearic house, slo-mo burners and deep chugging vibes. From the yacht rock stylings of Shalvoy building up with deep grooving slo-mo from Even Funkier, Ben Jamin and Pete Ellison taking us into nu-disco territory with new tracks from stalwarts Andy Buchan and Stephen Richards. Hot Digits also welcomes some superb work from DJ Laurel, Mannix, Prisma Deer, Ben Banjo-Field, Solazz and Lup Ino alongside staple contributors Fingerman, Ian Upfold, Chewy Rubs, Fray Bentos, GMGN, Groovemasta and Down Under Disco along with some old faces making their return to the label with JB Dizzy, Raw Artes, Pete Le Freq, Oldchap and P-Sol all in residence. The idea of Black Light Disco became a real thing when a few like-minded DJs and producers came together to put on a night showcasing the very best in disco, house and funk and everything in between. Our ethos is based around a very simple concept: GOOD MUSIC, GOOD TIMES with GOOD PEOPLE. We announced ourselves on a gorgeous sunny Saturday in June 2019 with an all day and night party in Liverpool’s thriving Baltic Triangle area. It was the start of something very special. 

We have a solid core group of musical talent residing in BLD Towers hailing from England, Scotland, Wales, Northen Ireland and Italy -  providing perfectly cooked grooves and juicy basslines. 

The BLD team comprises of Esteban, Goz (Spin City), Pookie Knights, Cole Kutz (Opentempo.fm) De Gama and Fingerman (Hot Digits) – clocking up decades of DJ’ing and dancefloor experience between us. As individuals, the BLD team have been producing consistently high quality sets over the last few years. Now, as a collective, the aim is to make Black Light Disco THE place to promote new music and to bring you the very best in established/up-and-coming artists and producers in the sunlit uplands of sonic pleasure. 

In January 2020, we launched a weekly show on THE biggest house music FM radio station in New York, MyHouseRadio.fm (also available digitally at www.myhouseradio.fm).  The Black Light Disco Show airs every Monday exclusive to MyHouse Radio between 7pm – 9pm GMT (2pm -4pm EST), bringing you the finest in disco, funk and boogie; all delivered by our expert in-house Sonic Consultants (resident DJs) with guest mixes from the hottest producers, DJs and artists out there right now.
