Nietzsche:  
Look at this, Carl.
A world where every individual is expected to become a high‑performance machine.
They’ve finally understood that morality was nothing but a brake.
Jung:  
No, Friedrich.
They haven’t gone beyond morality.
They’ve simply replaced it with an ideology of performance.
It’s not the will to power, it’s the will to optimization.
A caricature.
Nietzsche:  
Optimization, power… what’s the difference
What matters is that they refuse stagnation.
They want to surpass themselves, enhance themselves, tear themselves away from the all‑too‑human.
It’s almost… Dionysian.
Jung:  
Dionysian
No.
It’s Apollonian to the point of sterility.
They want to measure everything, control everything, predict everything.
They fear chaos, fear the unconscious, fear the shadow.
They don’t transcend themselves — they escape themselves.
Nietzsche:  
You’re too gentle with them.
They’ve understood that compassion slows you down.
That cooperation weakens you.
That empathy is a luxury for the weak.
Jung:  
And that is precisely where their whole structure will collapse.
A society that denies the shadow ends up devoured by it.
A technology that ignores the soul becomes a tyrant.
They think they’re creating gods, but they’re manufacturing complexes.
Nietzsche:  
You mean… idols.
Jung:  
Exactly.
Silicon idols.
Totems of speed.
Fetishes of efficiency.
They’ve replaced God with the algorithm, and the soul with data.
Nietzsche:  
So you think they’re mistaken
Jung:  
I think they’re incomplete.
They want to transcend the human without having integrated it.
They want to overcome the shadow without having looked at it.
They want to abolish death without understanding life.
Nietzsche:  
You mean they’re not tragic enough yet.
Jung:  
Yes.
They haven’t yet encountered their own depth.
They are children playing with forces they do not understand.
Nietzsche:  
So, Carl…
What are they missing
Jung:  
A symbol.
A myth.
A descent into the unconscious.
A confrontation with what they flee:
vulnerability, finitude, the shadow, meaning.
Nietzsche:  
And you — what would you offer them
Jung:  
A mirror.
So they can see that in wanting to become gods,
they risk becoming automatons.
Nietzsche:  
Then we agree on one thing.
Silicon Valley doesn’t need more power.
It needs more depth.
