Hank Jackson's music has been notoriously difficult to pin down, as his shifting sound has stretched in simultaneous directions over the years. Nevertheless a constant thread in his productions are their explorative nature, defying genre conventions to forge a personalized path. Over the course of his releases on defining US electronic music labels such as Mister Saturday Night, Proibito, and most recently, his own label, anno, Hank Jackson has continued to craft his own vision of techno, one both texturally multilayered and evocatively introspective. His DJ mixes are no different, defying expectations with every set to deliver captivatingly creative selections. He's captured the attention of both local NYC clubs and international DJs alike, sparking a recent set at New York's renowned Sustain-Release, and most recently, an upcoming DJ tour in Japan. We're excited to showcase his singular sound, as Truancy Volume 258 ventures into "psychedelic zippy vibes" in am intoxicating thrill-ride through experimental, techno, electro, UK garage, grime, glitch, and dub. Provocatively trippy with its hypnotic percussion and moments of ceremonious chanting, Hank Jackson's mix is a dizzying dream that resonates long after you wake.

Duval Timothy’s Bleep mix is both stylistically varied and aesthetically harmonious. A whole variety of genres are traversed here - in the first handful of tracks alone we find Timothy blending Galcher Lustwerk’s haunted deep-house, Mr. Mitch’s clattering techno-dancehall and Grouper’s astral-plane ambiences, while the rest of the selections take in everything from J Dilla to Coby Sey, Augustus Pablo’s heavy dub to Lyra Pramuk’s avant-garde vocal music. Much like Duval Timothy’s studio output, the London-based artist gracefully joins the dots between these ostensibly disparate musics, lacing his own deft, jazz-flecked compositions throughout the mix in order to provide the listener with further context.

In the current club music landscape, any adherence to specific genres and styles is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Few stages bring this into as sharp relief as New York City, where the return to the halcyon days of its place as a dance music capital of the world has been well underway for some time now. Kristin Malossi’s work as DJ Voices, a founding member of the collective Working Women, and as booker for Ridgewood nightclub Nowadays, encapsulates this new riveting era perfectly and succinctly, imbuing any dance floor she touches with a unique, vital energy. Originally hailing from southern Florida, she spent her formative years in New York as a curator immersed in this multi-faceted and highly-charged scene. She crafted her own niche swiftly, and ever since then has worked tirelessly to champion and center the sounds and creators that moved her the most. From her resident nights at Nowadays, her regular shows on The Lot Radio, to her increasingly frequent sojourns to dance floors across the globe and mixes featured in Fact, Pitchfork and Resident Advisor, she’s bringing the frequencies and sounds that taught her to as many people as she can, and in a voice that is unmistakably her own.
