We believe that we live in a magnificent era being spoilt for choice and that’s how I feel when listening to Legowelt live sets. I'm not exaggerating when I say that Legowelt is one of the most influential artists of our time and a top artist who has always been identified as being in the Underground scene.

IM MIX 93: Legowelt

Don't let @solid_blake's diminutive stature fool you: she plays with a ferocity and precision that flips Europe's most tasteful dance floors inside out. Born in Glasgow but operating out of Copenhagen, she was a founding member of the Apeiron Crew DJ collective, has produced as Historical Repeater with Ctrls and often plays with Mama Snake as she did at our own festival a few years ago. Her Rinse FM radio show is always packed with new sounds that have you desperate to find out more, as is this week's mix. 

It's built on bold, body-shaking rhythms that are elastic and acrobatic. They're loose and roomy to start before the kinetic energy builds through jungle cuts, thumping deep techno and unhinged club music. Though squarely aimed at the dance floor, these selections are detailed with freaky monologues or wild vocalisations that bring them to life outside the club. They're both deep but lively and run through with a subtle sense of party-starting fun.

"As a DJ, I have been more and more interested to play more percussive based tracks, giving me more freedom to navigate genres. But recently, I have got the chance to muscle up my game a bit more on some techno dancefloors, and I really enjoy playing with this kind of energy. "I went to record this mix at the end of a super busy November where I had a lot of late-night/closing sets, and was kind of in that headspace. There's a mixture of old and new tracks - it showcases many different genres from 170 stuff to bassier bits, then into techno, electro, house, and breaks. I wanted to include one of the tracks from the Slacker release on Soft Raw, and since it's a faster tempo, I decided to go about the mix a bit differently than usual by starting off fast and then going slower and back up again. It's the kind of mix where you're not sure where it's going to go next, but when it goes there, it makes sense!"

Second one for our new OYE podcast series is our good friend MEJLE. Since some year´s we are working with him now as he is always bringing the newest hotest Mechatronica stuff to our shop.

MEJLE is a DJ and co-owner of Mechatronica - the Berlin based record label and collective, founded in 2012. Mechatronica releases music from an umbrella of artists across their labels, and holds club night residencies across Berlin for the past decade. 

His rugged and dynamic approach to DJing blends with a decade-long passion for collecting music and mixing records, to produce energetic sets that surf across electro, acid, EBM, techno, breaks, jungle, chicago and detroit sounds, italo, new beat, wave and everything in between.

OYE Podcast #2 MEJLE

Back in 2016, Skee Mask and Zenker Brothers spontaneously attempted to play together at an afterparty in Prague, but after ten minutes the electricity failed. Two years later they finally had the opportunity to play a joint extended set for the first time - at Unsound Kraków 2018. The three DJs closed Saturday night in Hotel Forum with an expansive set building on adventurous forms of techno, jungle and broken beat, combining the collective interests of Ilian Tape. The set kicked off at 4am in the Ball Room.
