"When I started putting together the tracklist for this mix, I think I knew I wanted to create a mix that could showcase what I could do when given a more peak-time slot and a club ready with dancers wanting to get loose. It’s filled with some of my favourite club tracks whilst going through the motions in terms of genre, style, energy. Lots of rolling techno, euphoric breakdowns and tracks I’ve not generally had the chance to play out in a club scenario yet. It’s a long one at 2 hours, but I hope people enjoy it enough to stay till the end. It finishes on one of my favourite tracks Tys - Astral that sums up my style of DJing to an extent - feel good nostalgia."

For Trushmix 203 Tatjana is back in the mix! A now familiar name here on Trush with her fourth mix. Always delivering crafty mixes, with her underground sound and on point mixing. This mix recorded live in SVN's Neues Deutschland studio, an over two hour session exploring the different directions of techno and beyond: Classic US and Detroit style, UK, bass-style, German techno, ambient, chill-out sounds and touching into experimental, the sound, always deep! 
Her shifting seamlessly between different styles makes this mix a real pleasure.

"When Bleep.com asked me to contribute a mix to their series in honour of the publication of the new edition of my book Join The Future: Bleep Techno and the Brith of British Bass Music, I quickly decided that I wanted to showcase my love of bleep & bass old and new, but also throw in sub-heavy cuts made at different points since the ‘90s – after all, one of the key arguments in the book is that bleep had a profound impact on the future direction of British dance music. The new afterword chapter, written last autumn, also references the recent wave of revivalist bleep productions, so I wanted to give a flavour of those too.

So, there are important innovators (Unique 3, Nightmares on Wax, LFO, and Sweet Exorcist), overlooked or under-celebrated acts (Rhythmatic, Tomas), a nod to the short-lived NYC bleep and breakbeat hardcore scene (How & Little), a couple of sub-heavy 1990 workouts from London (Moody Boys, the Leftfield produced ‘Difference’ by Djum Djum), a dash of bleep & breaks (Bass Culture, an early Rennie Pilgrem project), recent revivalist bleep cuts (DAWL, iNFO, Dan Piu, Tom Carruthers), some mid-90s Brummie dub house (Rockers HiFi), sub-heavy 21st century workouts (SuPaFiX, Toddla T remixing Working Men’s Club, Bakey), tons of my own re-edits (over the years I’ve amassed a sizable library of ‘Join The Future edits’ as I call them) and even a completely unreleased (though re-edited) Tuff Little Unit track, ‘Blow Up The System’. Oh, and the crazy dancefloor dub that is Alfanso’s Rob Gordon-produced ‘Dub Feels Nice (Version 4)’, which is exclusively available on the Join The Future:UK Bleep & Bass 88-91 compilation on JD Twitch’s Cease & Desist label (which is, of course, available via bleep.com).

Emma Blake is, musically, something of a nomad. She made her name—Solid Blake—that is, in Copenhagen, where she cofounded the influential Apeiron Crew alongside Mama Snake and Smokey. They were responsible in establishing the city's "fast techno" sound, which blended sleek techno and trance influences into something colourful and retro-futuristic. But Blake's side of things was always more rooted in electro, with a party-starting flair that you might be tempted to pin to her Glaswegian upbringing. (Her first release, <i>Mario</i>, came out on the label of the legendary Glasgow taps-aff basement nightclub La Cheetah.) And she's also spent time in Berlin, so she has those techno bona fides, too.

Another EP, released on Modeselektor's Seilscheibenpfeiler, further fleshed out her electro-techno hybrid sound, also explored in her Historical Repeater project with Danish artist Ctrls. DJing has been her major focus, though—she has an excellent Rinse FM show—and you'll hear a refined approach on her excellent RA Podcast, which is like a club set in miniature, starting out midtempo and rushing towards a heady climax with tracks like Pariah's "Squishy Windows." It's loaded with creative grooves, toothsome textures and the kind of sleek melodies that helped define her stint in Copenhagen since the beginning.

"For "The Reformer Mix Vol. 1" we wanted to change it up a bit from our other mixes that are either straight forward, or live recorded in the club. We used two Technics 1200's and recorded a longer mix session, then edited everything down, mixed in live overdubs with turntables, added vocoder melodies, and also a proper amount of shout outs. The idea was to present a highly condensed mix that still has the raw live feeling we love from playing records in the club. With more than 30 tracks in about 55 min we're using some of our favourite cuts, moving through our biggest influences from House, Techno, and Electro, mixing all with a solid base in Hip-Hop." -LNS & DJ Sotofett
