Central Processing Unit, commonly referred to as CPU Records, is an independent British record label, founded in Sheffield in 2012 by Chris Smith, and notable for bridging contemporary electronic music with the early Sheffield Bleep era, and being at the forefront of contemporary electro music. Distributed by Kudos Records London UK. The label uses a binary catalog number system for its releases which means that it will only allow for a total of 256 releases. Many of the label's releases are mastered in Smith's Computer Club Sheffield studio. In 2019 the label launched their own studio filter module called The CPU Filter, modelled on the classic Roland Jupiter-6 filter. The label is also parent to the sub label Computer Club records which released electronic music from 2013 to 2018.

Zobol is electronic music producer, live act and DJ living in Bristol UK. Focusing on deeper electronic sounds within Electro, Acid, Braindance, breakbeat and Electronica. Co-founder of vinyl imprint Distorted Sensory Perception. With releases on labels such as, Wave Function Records, Analog Concept, Nocta Numerica, Sci-Fact, Haŵs & EON.

Drexciya, Kraftwerk, AFX.

2. What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

I have a few 12" solo EP's coming in the not so distant future (including a few remixes from some esteemed artists).

4. What inspires you now to create music?

My experience in life.

I'm currently using a Korg Ms20, Roland JX3P, Korg Prologue 16, Korg Volca FM, Acidlab Drumatix, Behringer TD-3, Elektron Octatrack and Ableton Live.

Based in Long Beach, CA, Miranda Calzada is a classically trained musician who has been honing her DJ craft at LA undergrounds for over a decade. By curating Neptunian Influence, an electro-leaning mix and event series, she brings forth sounds which incite “bright companion clouds and dark vortices.” Neptunian Influence features both established and up-and-coming artists from around the world. Neptunian Influence Podcast, Thirty-Three | Featuring @214_electro

To celebrate three years of Neptunian Influence, we are delighted to present a mix by an electro hero, 214. Hailing from the majestic North Bend, located outside of Seattle and treasured for being the filming location of Twin Peaks, 214’s home has been the inspiration for many of his timeless pieces of music, which in turn have influenced electro lovers around the world. The snowscape transmission that he’s provided for Neptunian Influence seems to transport you to his daily surroundings - only before an inevitable trip to outer space :)

With two full-length albums and over a dozen singles and EPs under his belt, 214’s most recent release is ‘Rex And Shuffle’ on Steffi’s @klakson-records. In March, watch out for his ‘Si View EP’ being released via Sync 24’s @cultivated-electronics. 

This mix also serves as the second part in a series highlighting artists from the Pacific Northwest. Part one was delivered by @tufseattle’s @livwutang, who recently performed alongside 214 and @dbridge_exitrecords at Seattle’s @kremwerk.
