I need to confess something immediately - this is a mix that has been lying around, gathering dust, on my HDD since 2013 really. Given my less than reliable methods of backup at the time, it's a bit of a miracle that this one has survived to the year of 2022. (My backup strategy has definitely improved a lot since then!)

What you are about to hear, is around 70 minutes of mid-late 90s melodic, jazzy, atmospheric 164 bpm jungle? drum&bass? Anyhow, the tracklist has been permanently imprinted into my brain, and I could probably wake up any morning and recite it from memory. That's how much I have actually listened to it in the past. And that's not really something out of the ordinary, as this mix does represent the essence of why I even started to love jungle/d&b in the first place.

Welcome to the bass arena: this month London boy Darren White aka dBridge presents some of his own productions and releases of his label Exit Records. Since more than 15 years the DJ and producer is part of the UK Bass scene and produces fearless rhythm music. During the peak of the Drum and Bass movement he shook the world as a member of the notorious quartet Bad Company. Currently dBridge caused international attention towards bass-laden Dubstep tracks that he produced solo or together with Instra:mental. For Carhartt Radio he mixed a smooth but vibrating journey that stays soulful even when it rattles.

Melbourne-based DJ Plead is one of the newest members of Nervous Horizon, the label co-founded by TSVI - an Italian artist living in UK. Both artists explore rhythmic traditions from around the world, with a special focus on Lebanese wedding and pop music (Plead) and Sufi practices (TSVI). They played b2b for the first time at Unsound 2019 in Kraków, exploring the breadth of percussive music in front of a tightly packed Kitchen at Hotel Forum. Here's a recording of that set, filled to the brim with some of the freshest tunes in club music right now.
