This release is dedicated to and written for all the people I have never met but have only read about. The innocent people who were out living their lives and one day, without warning, had them taken away from them. People who liked to laugh, dance, and love in the way that we all do, but cant anymore. All those names and faces, all those beautiful strangers...
 
So here are two songs, "Beautiful Strangers" as well as my cover of Townes Van Zandt's "No Place To Fall" that I have been closing my live show with over the past year. Any purchase of these two songs will go to support the work of Everytown For Gun Safety - an organization I have followed for quite some time. I believe in and support them in their efforts to make the world a safer place. So if you wish - you can donate as little or large as you'd like and I do hope you enjoy the songs. Francis Harris is a founding member of the Scissor & Thread label - a Brooklyn-based imprint established 2011. Previously releasing under the alias Adultnapper, Harris established Scissor & Thread as an outlet for deeper, more personal sounds, as well as music from a range of associated artists including Black Light Smoke, Bob Moses and Aris Kindt. Harris’ own output has gone from tightly wound tech house bombs as Adultnapper to intricate and expressive musical journeys, and has seen him branch out with a new label - Kingdoms - a home for adventurous music from across the board.

More We Cannot Do is a perfect example of Harri’s feel for depth and dynamics - the track is seeming submerged warm amniotic fluid - cocooned in compression that the listener can get instantly lost in. A think, subby bass provides much of the groove, with skittering percussion on top and luscious fragments of melody. Minor Forms, the EP’s title track is cut from similar cloth - emerging form a subtly distant place to inhabit a melancholic, beautifully evocative space - somewhere between ambient, jazz and the dancefloor. Valentino Mora offers up two exquisite reworks of Minor Forms to complete the EP. Mora, the Berlin based Uruguayan producer, brings his own layer of depth to Harris’s originals - the Underwater Rephrase version adds a propulsive kick and manages to shimmer and shake in subtle, beautiful ways. The Cosmic Trans Rephrase is somehow even deeper - a bubbling bass pulse anchors the track while pads drift in and out, adding to the blissful, meditative whole.

Elusive dutch DJ and producer, nthng, announces his second album ‘Hypnotherapy’ on Lobster Theremin. Previously putting out records on his own label Transatlantic, plus the likes of Delsin, Lobster Theremin and Mörk, this thoughtful long play spans dub techno, hazy ambient and mind-bending trance, traversing through different moods. 

Float away with bright and airy opener, ‘50 Flower’. Spoken word samples intercept the ambience, bringing the listener down from the clouds. A2’s ‘I Just Am’ takes the EP into dub techno dancefloor territory with bolshy, rattling percussion and assertive vocals. ‘Heitt’ is a pacy slice of machine music for the wee hours, before drifting back to softness with barely-there ‘Beautiful Love’. ‘Wave Return’ injects a dose of wigged out energy, slowly evolving from drawn out dub into an effervescent jam. ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’ rolls gently - a prime slice of chunky, driving electronica. nthng’s title track, ‘Hypnotherapy’, see’s the producer return to the ambient fringes of moody techno, barely-there kicks, and shimmering pads. Rounding out the album, weightless ‘With You’ is a romantic post club track, soft, longing vocals sit upon almost bird-like sounds. Digi only bonus, ‘And Then There Was Light’ is nthng’s most ethereal offering yet.

Premiere: Jesse Trinidad - The Last Dance [Métrica]

The drums were electrifying and enticing, they shimmered and danced between the walls reverberating with a deep echoed pulse. It were as if some great 808 waterfall was plummeting down a cliff face into a deep blue lagoon as the stab of a flickering melody played out atop the repetitive beat. This was beautiful, melancholy music. This was the sound of another dimension in a place and state far, far away. 

KSKY is set to release a new EP on 10010, it's a well crafted collection of tracks which takes the listener and dancer through worlds unknown. This track was the highlight of the record for us, a shimmering melodic affair which is perfect for those special 2am moments.
