Some grow up with musical aspirations from early childhood, others are thrown into it because they were destined to. Unlike many of his peers, his passion for music came much later in life. I am a 24 Year old male Living in Melbourne Victoria.
I became interested in DJ'ing in early to mid 2009, in late 2010 I couldn't resist the itch to mix so I set out to purchase some equipment.
I spent some cash and got:
Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S4
Apple MacBook Pro 15" (mid 2010)
Ultrasone DJ1Pro headphones
KRK Rokit RP8G2 Studio Monitors
I started getting the itch to mix when I met a local DJ who has helped me learn and progress as a new DJ/Artist. He has hammered and pushed me into good habits, and stomped on the bad as they popped up. He has taught me the basics and I've listened to and learned from him, as well as many other DJs, to pickup random techniques and tricks to make some smooth transitions between sweet beats.
I've seen him as a role model as he uses a 4 deck layout. This is rarely used here so I saw him as very a talented and experimental artist.
I play primarily Trance and Progressive genre's for their smooth flowing and melodic sounds. I do commonly find myself enjoying other genres such as Minimal, Tech House, Electro and Psy-Trance to mention a few.
I mix with Traktor Pro S4 - which will be soon upgraded to Traktor 2 Pro (early april 2011) - using primarily 2 decks occasionally 4 and sometimes the Sample Decks initially offered in Traktor Pro S4.
My Goal is to make some really nice, smooth flowing mixes mixed in key (this part comes after I learn the techniques etc..) and hopefully make it to some pubic gigs and even outdoor events if possible.
