NADIA (Montreal)

Nadia is an Iranian-born, UAE-raised, then Montreal-based visual artist and DJ. She gravitates towards a diverse array of musical styles, as she finds inspiration in every genre. This, and her love for attending festivals and underground clubs across Europe and North America, inevitably led her to start seriously pursuing music five years ago. Montreal then created the perfect landscape to push through her musical boundaries. In reference to the underlying electronic music style, Nadia connects the most with dark hypnotic rhythms, jazz infused elements with deep bass lines and transportive cosmic sounds, regardless of the intersectionality found within her. For this podcast she decided to explore some house conjoined with breakbeats. This is considered to be the beginning of her musical endeavours. She aspires to hone her artistic practice alongside music, all the while continuing to have a deep admiration for record selection.

◉ Sebastian Borca aka Verzila is a local electronic music producer and promoter, the one behind the well-known eponymous YouTube channel with the same name. Born in Sighetu Marmatiei, the northernmost point of Romania, he developed a passion for modern electronic dance rhythms from the age of 14, exploring numerous genres and subgenres. In time, he finds various flavors of house and techno to be the ones he resonates with the most and starts dedicating more and more attention to music. In February 2008 he created his YouTube channel, uploading tracks he liked from various artists, including friends and emerging talents. With a focus on deep house, tech house, microhouse, minimal and techno, the initiative enjoys massive success and receives support from many directions. Steadily, the venture becomes a solid promotion platform, currently counting over 102k subscribers, 55 million views and 5479 videos. A new chapter was written in May 2017 when he established Welter Records, an independent imprint aiming to offer more exposure to international and Romanian artists who find themselves at the beginning of their careers. With 200+ releases and 60+ podcasts until now. The second chapter was born in 2021 with the Inunct Music project label that is a free to download label with the purpose of spreading music for free and helping artists expose their vision through music. Currently Inunc Music has 20+ releases. When it comes to mixing he’s rarely seen behind the decks, playing only at a limited number of parties, mostly the ones organised with his long-time friend Mofescu through his party label Oscilatii.

It started as a little science fiction story where Kepler-129, a hot star located about 1200 light-years away from our Solar System, became the living environment of peculiar creatures, passionate about music, throwing parties to overcome their tedious routine.

Eventually, this story mirrors what Kepler-129 has grown to be: a concept of round-the-clock parties in unusual settings, simultaneously inspired by the rave culture and the cosier approach of small selectors clubs.

What the science-fiction story did not predict, however, is the Visolux project.

Parties don’t last, printed music does. Surrounded by talented and nerdy friends from both real life and the Internet, much keener to work out drums and machines than launching a start-up, we joined forces to craft a various EP that would echo our Kepler adventures.

For this first live mix recorded on 07/04/23, the renowned Romanian producer and selector Arapu delighted us with his best house, minimal and deep selections from his compatriots like Sepp, young talents like 97till and Cosenza or records from the legendary Fabric resident Nathan Coles.

Prichindel started mixing a couple of years ago and he quickly made a name for himself, as his distinct groovy style caught people’s attention in no time. He’s bringing forward an energetic blend of house, minimal, progressive, breaks and electro. He is not only a nice guy but also a great selector and skillful DJ, known for his tracks filled with breaks and subby basslines.

Having already gained a reputation for narrative-driven sets that combine everything delicious from the worlds of house, breaks, minimal and electro — Prichindel delivers an intense mix for Guesthouse, recorded at the infamous SNRS48  in February 2023.

From Harry Light’s ‘Take A Journey’, to the Dub edit of ‘Lumina interioara’ from Doubtingthomas, Prichindel gives a taste of his current musical influences across an unrelenting hour-and-something-long mix. With his feet firmly planted in the groove, it comes as no surprise that there are lively vocals and enjoyable moments nicely intertwined.

Crescent released until now many track on labels like : Wavetech Limited and Tupiar , Tzinah Records , ODT Records , Vivus Records , NG TRAX , MINIMAL MOVEMENT and his productions were appreciated by artists like: Richie Hawtin, Petre Inspirescu, Raresh, Sepp, Giuliano Lomonte, Arapu and many others .
