Blindetonation serve up another summer sizzler from French artist Sebastien Tex with big remixes by FKClub and Javi Redondo.
DJ and producer Tex brings all the rugged attitude you would expect of an artist on this DIY minded label. His punky disco is visceral and vital and comes on esteemed labels like Correspondant and La Belle Records as well as this one.
First up here is the super title track, a snaking bit of spooky dark disco with a hypnotic lead line. Tension builds around the slap-funk drums and moody bass and the whole thing is sure to get the floor to erupt. Remixing is FKClub, a skilled drummer, DJ and producer who makes mental yet visceral music that draws on anything from rock to acid. His take on ‘Mouniche’ has stiff bass stabs and sic- fi effects making it a turbulent cosmic groover.
Next is ‘The Struggles of Life’, a terrific track wired up with sinewy electronics and percolating bass. Big guitar riffs bring the menace and once the drums drop again this is a rock-tinged disco gem. Madrid’s Javi Redondo is a key player in the Spanish scene who now tours all over Europe with his genre defying sounds. He reworks it into something more urgent, with pumping drums and drunken synths tumbling down the scales to bring a brilliantly off balance feel.
Once more this is a superb package of forward looking club chuggers from Blindetonation.

'Hungry For the Power' gets a fresh batch of big-name remixes in advance of Azari & III's debut LP release, due in July.

Headlining the package is a showdown of Crosstown Rebels stars, with the red-hot Jamie Jones and Art Department each turning in massive renditions. Jamie's mix is a full-blown, driving party anthem, while Azari's fellow Torontonians elevate the pop flavours with a more laid-back approach.

Guy Gerber, fresh off a fruitful collaboration with P. Diddy, delivers a feverish, saturated late-night mix.

Emerging talent Sei A turns in a hauntingly beautiful dubstep mix reminiscent of the mighty Burial.

Finally, Azari & III pump the drums up and enhance the Detroit-styled strings on their brand-new Dub.

Way back in 1996, at the height of the widely acknowledged golden period for elec- tronic music, D-Saw a.k.a André Winter released a true classic on Hamburg's highly influential Superstition label. Track 10:30 stood the test of time, becoming widely regarded as a key moment in European techno music history, despite its modest impact at the time. Now, 20 years later, André revisits the source material courtesy of some killer remixes on Oliver Huntemann’s Senso imprint. Hamburg’s own H.O.S.H. (Holger Behn) delivers an epic twist to the cut, widening out the spaces and adding his own tech-y signature to the original. Re.You offer up another flavour altogether, maintaining the iconic synth pulse of the source but introducing an infectious, driving groove. dubspeeka throw a bit more grit in into proceedings with a tough, machine funk mix, while André Winter himself reworks his classic into a slow burning groover that effor- tlessly showcases the elements that make this track so timeless.
