babyschön is the musical moniker of Safi Bugel. Based in London, having spent a spell in Leeds and moving to the big smoke, she has built a reputation for her eclectic taste and approach to music.

She’s also worked tirelessly as a journalist in a number of guises – helping to document grassroots musical communities and uplifting creatives with astute commentary and deep understanding.

From a musical perspective – her interests are broad taking on influences from Post Punk, Synthwave, EBM, Italo, New Wave and beyond.

Radio has always been an important influence on Safi’s musical trajectory as well. She’s hosted shows on community-led stations NARR (which she co-founded) and Sable Radio.

Now she focusses her attention toward DJ’ing more firmly. This mix cements that intent and we believe you’ll be seeing a lot more of babyschön in the coming spell.

k_schreiber is a London based DJ and producer with a passion for eclectic electronics: electro, techno, IDM, acid and house

Nurtured on a diet of soul, funk and hip hop, his musical horizons were broadened by John Peel and Gilles Peterson leading to a vinyl obsession that persists to this day.
Having earned his stripes as a DJ and promoter, it was only a matter of time before his love of moving the crowd paved the way for a natural progression into music making.
Detroit, Chicago & Berlin are huge influences in his techno and electro productions, with the melodic and deep side of house reserved for his Sarru Project alias.

In case you are unaware, Slacky is a DJ and curator based in West Yorkshire who runs the Space Ritual label. In addition to this, he is a co-director of the wonderful Narr Radio. 

Being heavily influenced by acid house, techno, krautrock and psychedelic music, his mixes often create an intergalactic voyage for the dance-floor and today's mix is no different, featuring the likes of CPI, Zu Mu Party Crew, Coil, Jenson Intercepter, I-F, and much much more.

Preparations for Jacksons Lane #3

April 2020 - The embrace and fusion of American funk, soul, disco and psychedelic rock with African traditional styles makes for an exciting blend. Later on an interest in electronics and reggae rhythms also took hold. Of course the afrobeat movement was also huge and needs no introduction here. The 70s saw an explosion of recorded music from Africa which has been getting easier to get hold of in recent years due to good quality reissues. This is a small slice of sub-Saharan African rhythms from that period.

Session 008

July 2020 - Some of my first clubbing big experiences were of big techno parties such as Lost in London or Atomic Jam in Birmingham that booked some of the big Detroit techno DJs such as Rob Hood or Jeff Mills. The atmosphere at these parties could be electric and the music seemed completely alien. This is a tribute of sorts to those hazy times.
