Explorers is the title of the new format from our good friend and simply stunning Paul Krause aka DJ Spit, aimed at open-minded and contemporary audiences who are ready to embrace and discover its motto of > genre-fluidity <. DJ Spit himself, undoubtably one of Germany’s current dance music shooting stars, is an avid promoter of genre-defying mixes and selections with a focus on high-energy bass-music hybrids that recalibrates the perception of what you’d call > Rave < through styles like Drill, Drum&Bass, Ghetto House and much more. Dashing through myriads of genres and styles and different forms of musical abstraction, DJ Spit makes big pop-gestures and experimental polyrhythms seem like close relatives in the blink of an eye. 
It’s not hard to see why DJ Spit is one of the scene’s most in demand party-starters! And the rendition of Explorers at Blitz on Friday 10/02 could hardly be more exciting, with a thrilling array of acclaimed DJs sharing decidedly modern and multifaceted perspectives on club music, such as Bjarki, I. Jordan, rosi96 and SHERELLE. 

For the special occasion, we’re delighted to present the upcoming Blitzcast 013 from DJ Spit himself, just in time to give you a glimpse of what to expect from his upcoming set at Blitz.

Blitzcast 013: DJ Spit

Our resident habibi Bashkka is making waves all over Europe, dishing out muscular funk and queer club bangers and working on making nightlife more diverse and a safer space for LGBTQIA+ people, reminding people of dance music's origins that's rooted in queer POC, in Munich and everywhere else she commands the decks - and crowds.

We’re delighted to celebrate the release of her first, debut solo EP called > Maktub < on our good friend Nene H’s label UMAY and to release our new Blitzcast 014 mix by Bashkka too, that showcases a more trippier and tender side of Bashkka.

Blitzcast Nr. 15 comes from the local native and firm Blitz favourite Niklas Bergmüller aka 600-Cell. The mix proves 600-Cell’s capabilities as an acquired selector and, as always, spans a wide range of genres that showcase his unique approach to percussive drums & grooves as well as the charismatic understatement that we love about him.

Blitzcast 016 comes from Berlin based Electro duo and Childhood associates CYRK, that are known for a thrilling blend of Electro and Techno and spherical textures reminiscent of Italo Disco's characteristic bliss. 
Their Blitzcast travels Disco, House and Acid, while being firmly rooted between the cornerstones of Electro and Detroit-inspried techno. Embark on a jovial trip filled with sparkling tunes and infectious funk with CYRK!

Busy and exciting times for Ed Davenport, whom some of you will also know under his alias Inland. 

As Ed Davenport, he released a new EP with a trio of gleaming, house orientated tracks on our very own Muallem's Childhood imprint titled > PLACE OF CONNECT PT.1 < and he recorded a new mix for our Blitzcast series, brimming with the estival vibes he's been spreading at the gigs he played this summer. And now Ed is back for our upcoming Cruise event on Saturday, the 14th of October, for a special back to back with Muallem - a world premiere, too! - alongside the likes of Bambounou, Partok, u.r.trax and many more.

It's no secret anymore that Vienna's musical underground is bursting with talent and skilled artists and that many of the city dance music scene's interesting figures regularly play at Blitz. Katia Curie is one of them. Blitzcast 018 is a great place to start when getting into the Kyiv born selector, who's also one of the driving forces behind Vienna's > Sonic Resistance <. 

What can you expect? Let's hear what Katia has to say...

> When selecting the tracks, it was particularly important to me to get the listener into a certain rhythmic hypnosis that is maintained throughout the mix as it changes from one mood to another. I also wanted to show a different, dynamic, groovy side of my selection, which makes this mix different from my others. It's a vinyl-only mix consisting mainly of progressive house and techno records from the late 90s and early 2000s. At the same time, one of the recorded tracks was recently released on the Kyiv label Tancido, after the full scale war had started. I am totally in love with this one and it has a particularly important aspect for me, considering my Ukrainian origin. <

Blitzcast 018 : Katia Curie

We've got a special selector playing her Blitz debut upcoming Saturday, the 4th of May: Ceri! And we're happy to have her contributing an hour of music to our Blitzcast series ahead of her performance, too.

Her journey into the world of dance music was ignited by legendary venues like Fabric, Plastic People, and Ibiza’s DC-10 – rites of passage for many UK dance music fans! Now, armed with a wealth of experience and as the label head of Find Your Own Records she’s a marathon-set seasoned selector, focusing on deep house and drawing inspiration from timeless Chicago and Detroit sounds, as well as dubbed-out soundscapes and the grooves of UK-Garage. 

Catch her on Saturday 04/05 on our PLUS floor alongside Dee Diggs and Julie Fleischer and Marron, Regal86, Phase Fatale & the Zenker Brothers on our Blitz floor.

Ceri had a few words on the mix, too!

> I recorded this mix on a rainy day in Ibiza, so it has some darker, raw and moodier elements, with many tracks having a minor key, plus of course some happier and housier, with some vocal numbers too, to lift those spirits. Most of the tracks are old from the 80's and 90's which is my favourite period for proper House and Techno.

I hope it captures the sounds of Germany, the UK, Chicago, and Detroit, which are all where all my biggest musical inspirations and love for music comes from. One track is currently going for over €100 on discogs, another is the bargain price of €0.55 and just as good (if not better!), some are unreleased, a few are new, one track I got someone to bring all the way from the USA for me, and in my opinion, all are timeless, which is what I love. I only play music that touches my soul in some way... 

I am very happy and honoured to be playing Blitz Club, a place with such a revered music policy, great line ups, and a no camera rule, which always makes the best nights for me. 

When there are no phones on the dancefloor, the crowd are always so much more open and up for it, because they are there for the music first. I always feel like I let loose even more when I am in places like this too, I feel more comfortable to dance like crazy, sweat, and experiment more. I am really looking forward to seeing what happens on Saturday... I don't know what will happen yet because I have to feel the energy on the night to know where to go. And I am sure we will go on a beautiful journey together.

Our resident family is even growing bigger these days. We are happy to announce that no one else then Sedef Adasi joins the crew. In the past months the young girl from Augsburg convinced us with her diverse and captivating sets. Sedef bounces in between euphoric Techno, ruff House classics, space Disco and tough electro with elegance and ease. Her crowding reading is top notch, no wonder, as you can really feel how she interacts with the people in the club out of pure love. Our new resident also has lots of experience as promoter. With Hamam Night', a monthly club night taking place at City club in Augsburg, she has fostered a welcoming home for the likes of DJ Stingray, Tama Sumo or Boris, thereby taking the nightlifes’ choices’ of the city to a whole new level. In May, Sedef played for Amsterdam’s top radio choice Red Light. The next chapter is given with the next instalment for our Blitzcast series, she especially curated for her resident announcement. Watch out for her playing Panorama Bar on September 29th as well as her next gig for us on October 26th. Welcome to the family, habibi!

Mit Sedef Adasi bekommen wir weiteren Zuwachs in unserer Resident-Crew. Die junge Augsburgerin überzeugte uns in den vergangenen Monaten mit ihrem ausgefuchsten Sinn für facettenreiche und fesselnde DJ-Sets. Mit Lässigkeit und Eleganz, lädt Sedef Mal für Mal auf einen Ritt zwischen euphorisch-gestimmten Techno, markanten House-Klassikern, Weltall-Disco und schlagkräftigen Electro ein. Sie ließt und liebt ihre Crowd - und kommuniziert mit ihr spürbar auf Augenhöhe. Nicht weniger versiert ist unser neuer Resident als Veranstalterin. Zu ihren Hamam Nights im City Club, lotst Sedef regelmäßig Spitzenkräfte wie DJ Stingray, Tama Sumo oder Boris in die Fugger-Stadt und bereichert das dortige Nachtleben maßgeblich. Im Mai war Sedef zu Gast bei der Amsterdamer Hörfunk-Instanz Red Light Radio, nun legt sie mit ihrem Blitzcast 003 einen beherzt-hörenswerten Mix nach. Auch sollte man sich ihr Panorama Bar Debüt am 29. September, sowie ihren nächsten Take-off ins unserer Booth am 26. Oktober dringlich hinter die Ohren schreiben. Our new Blitz LIVE series is about to take off! As the name suggests, we’ll publish some live recordings from the club from now on. For he first edition, we’ve selected the unforgettable All Night Long by our good friend Seth Troxler from September 7th. As expected from Seth, the mix is a wonderful up and down in between House, Techno and Disco. All of this mixed with his unique way of taking risks and experimenting. It just can’t get any better.
