Looking for some “fun, urban, and bright” music?  Say hello to Meanna Juke, an up-and-coming singer/songwriter from the Bahamas. For the past five years, this insouciant vocalist has been wrapping her killer pipes around great melodies across a diverse array of genres.  Her latest mixtape, The Monkey Vendetta Volume 1, dropped on datpiff in 2012, and she has followed up its release with a great presence on social media.

Meanna was bitten by the music bug at the tender age of 10, when a rap battle among her schoolmates inspired her to start writing and recording songs.  As a teenager she wrote songs for the gospel group Aysta Chiq and appeared onstage alongside her sister and cousins.  Her next brush with fame came when she joined forces with MC DBiz to form the rap duo Head Bangers.  After rapper/mogul Flo Rida recruited DBiz for the crew White Frames, Meanna founded the recordwebby1 label Mean Monkey Entertainment and started recording as a solo artist.

Citing Salt n Peppa, MC Lyte, Nicki Minaj, Eve, and Trina as her influences, Meanna prides herself on her impetuous attitude and the originality of her music.  Through her appearances at open mic nights in her hometown of Freeport, she has earned a devoted fanbase of “ambitious and headstrong” women and men who identify with her forthright lyrical perspective.

 Looking back on her releases, Meanna observes: “I know that perfection is only attained within one’s imagination.”  Her latest mix tape, The Monkey Vendetta Vol. 1, came out online in 2012, with a follow-up in the can and ready for release.
