In a dark kitchen in the middle of a sweaty night in Las Vegas, all 6’4” of Dan Reynolds is hunched over a laptop, slapping beats on the table and crooning lyrics into a tiny microphone. Before long, he and the other three members of indie rock band Imagine Dragons would be playing “It’s Time,” that same laptop-demo-turned-supersized-anthem, from the roof of a parking garage to a wave of thousands of screaming fans. This song title to the single from their 2012 debut KidInaKorner/Interscope release “Continued Silence EP” is an all too apt descriptor of the band’s hard-earned success—but it’s also emblematic of the deep-seated anxiety Reynolds and the rest of the band experienced leaving behind any realistic expectation of a normal job to do the thing they love most.

A third-generation Las Vegas native, Reynolds is no stranger to the adage “the house always wins,” choosing to pave his musical career with a near obsessive work ethic and hundreds of unused demos rather than roll the dice with the first songs that sprung from his mouth. It’s no surprise, then, that he was drawn to guitarist Wayne Sermon, another founding member of Imagine Dragons. Having practically grown up in a recording studio and graduated Berklee College of Music, Wayne had been practicing his guitar through meals and other socially inappropriate situations as long as he could remember; he challenged Dan in a way that was both uncomfortable and exactly what they both needed. When they began writing songs together and recognized something special was happening, Wayne called up his Berklee friend Ben McKee, who promptly dropped out of school with only a few credits left, moving across the country to play bass for the band. This sort of reckless/genius behavior is typical for Ben, who has an uncanny penchant for spicy food and a suitcase full of unbelievable road stories. More recently, the band was joined by drummer Daniel Platzman, another Bostonian schoolmate who seems way too nice to be playing rock and roll until you actually see him in action.

Several tours and three self-released EPs later, Imagine Dragons had made a serious name for itself, particularly in the west coast circuit. Although their songs vary from nearly whimsical and light to brooding and powerful, listeners are drawn to the inherent honesty in the music. The only rule of thumb for the band, it seems, is to write from a true place; the result is songs that literally run the spectrum of human emotion. Attend a concert, and it becomes clear that the live performance of deeply personal songs has a real effect on people. And the band itself is not immune, as demonstrated when Dan literally passed out into the drum set during a finale song, sending cymbals and drum stands crashing while the rest of the band played on until the close.

Great songwriting is bound to be noticed eventually. As proof that the harder you work, the luckier you get, one of those people who noticed was Grammy winning producer Alex da Kid (Eminem, Rihanna). Alex and Dan began collaborating on projects, and soon the band had developed a relationship with Alex and his team. The alchemy resulting from Alex’s hip hop sensibilities and Imagine Dragons’ anthemic rock is nothing short of explosive. The byproduct of this creative collision is “Continued Silence,” a six song in-your-face sonic grenade that breaks musical boundaries and yet is strangely relatable by its improbably diverse audience.

Despite it all, on any given day when they aren’t on the road playing shows, you can still find Imagine Dragons huddled away in a rehearsal room somewhere, banging out song after song in search of the next perfect track. Like most things in Vegas, the band is angled at going big or going bust. For the sake of those who love great music, we hope it’s the former.

LOUGEE BASABAS

A choir girl who stepped into the limelight at age thirteen. 
It was1998 when she was discovered in modeling and started appearing in commercials and print ads  such as Jollibee, Pepsi, Ayala Malls, Smart Broadband , Smart Telecom and Bayantel among many others. 

In 2000, she took the stage by storm showcasing her vocal talent and stage performance. She was chosen among many auditioners to be part of the first pop group sensation in the Philippines- KAYA- a group of three girls and a boy, mentored by Maestro Ryan Cayabyab and  a pure brainchild of Boy Abunda of Backroom Inc. and Vic Valenciano of BMG Records Pilipinas. 
After a year of training under Cayabyab and Douglas Nierras of Power Dance, Lougee and the rest of the group launched their first single "Oblivious" which became an instant hit in 2001. This was followed by the release of their second single "I know" and their music video which was directed by Ely Buendia.

After their first nationwide tour, KAYA became the champion of the first Jam Himig Handog ng Kabataan and won Best Interpreter for the entree "Tara Tena" written by songwriter Jonathan Manalo. The young teens were also privileged to represent the country to perform for The Disney Channel  launch in 2002.
Lougee's first foray in the alternative band scene began when she had her very own indie band named Superlooj (composed of drummer Bon Sundiang, guitarist Joel Bohol and bassist Kerwin Rosete) formed by Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda. 

In 2003, she became the official frontwoman of the band Mojofly- with bassist Ricci Gurango, drummer Ali Alejandro and guitarist Allan Elgar- redefining the sound and song writing style that brought about hits like "Mata", "Tumatakbo", "Sa Uulitin", "Close to the end" and Wake Up." 
Upon the release of Mojofly's first album "Now", they gradually earned them the title- MTV Lokal Artist of the Month for March 2005.

After two-time nomination as Best Female Artist at the NU Rock Awards 2005-2006, Mojofly also bagged much acclaimed awards for Best Animated Video and Favorite Indie Video in the MTV Pilipinas Music Awards in 2006 for the single "Tumatakbo". This paved way to endorsements such as Creamsilk: Girl Power, Pink Power Campaign, Penshoppe, Del Monte Pizza Sauce and Chevrolet. 

In 2007, the departure of Mojofly leader Ricci Gurango marked the end of the journey as a band.  Lougee and members Ace Evangelista, Ali Alejandro and Richard Carandang released another album under Bellhaus Entertainment Inc. with a different name and format as Delara.
Eager to prove that there is more to share with their music, Delara surprises the audience with new sounding hits like "Gumising", "Masarap Nga" and "Smile" from their first self-titled album released in 2008 followed by a five-track EP in 2011 with their carrier single "Kailangan", which was released in MYX music channel.

Having done several indie films in her early teens, she was also given a chance to try her lot in television acting as she appeared in several talk shows and game shows  such as The Breakfast Club  (where she hosted a morning talk show and news program); Women on Top (where she played the role of a young rockstar hippie in a modern day setting); and season-long appearance in the talent show Stars On Ice on QTV11.

From 2007-2009 she became a host of the longest running noon-time show in the Philippines-Eat Bulaga. This gave her a chance to prove her versatility from modeling, singing, acting, TV hosting, corporate hosting and figure skating. Among many things, Lougee Basabas was also a contributor for Philippine Daily Inquirer's youth lifestyle section "2BU" and was a junior jock in Magic 89.9's saturday show "The Junior Jock show". 

Almost 15 years in the music industry, Lougee is now ready to take flight with her solo debut. After her success with Mojofly and DeLara, Lougee has found new light in combining Electro-pop with alternative rock. This 2014, Lougee is releasing “Feel The Same” which will be part of a full length album. 

Band

“Lougee” is composed of 5 members. Kiko Montecillo on Keys, Mark Gelbolingo on Bass, Ali Alejandro on Drums, Daniel Crisologo/Philip Queyquep on Lead Guitars. The band has been active since June 2012 and has played in numerous bars and venues around and outside the Metro. Within the 2 years, Lougee has been hitting the recording studio and planning on the next moves of her solo journey. The band records and rehearses in Makati City.
