Merry Christmas from the Uncanny Valley! Our new record is dedicated to the land of Christmas, the Erzgebirge (a mountain chain in the state of Saxony in Germany) and its renowned folk poet Anton Guenther. Lovingly packed, with a beautiful etching of a "Schwibbogen” (a traditional Christmas candle arch from the Erzgebirge) on the B-side and with unique liner notes by the one and only Max Rademann it’s the perfect Christmas gift for electronic music lovers and their audiophile moms and dads.

“Haisel Stieht” originates from a moody jam session by a bunch of friends and is based on a classic folk song from 1905, namely „Wu de Waelder haamlich rauschen“ by Anton Guenther. Break SL contributes his distinctive House-drumming while Jens Rosemann comes up with some catchy guitar licks. The song really takes off when the native “Erzgebirgler” Max Rademann starts to croon like he never crooned before and plays his beloved organ like a young god. On top, Tiny and Silke Brandes are rapping and having a laugh in the background.

“Zauberhafte Fantasie” is just Break SL in all his glory. The track’s catchy jazz sampling and almost symphonic synths accomplish a truly uncanny Christmas record.


Fröhliche Weihnachten alle miteinander! Das wünscht Uncanny Valley mit dieser Platte direkt aus den vielen beteiligten Herzen und in Reminiszenz an den Volksdichter Anton Günther aus dem Weihnachtsland Erzgebirge. Ein Paket, mit dem man durchaus auch beim Festtagsbraten in Familie bestehen kann. Denn was Break SL und Freunde hier als Geschenk einpacken, ist weit mehr als die übliche House-Version eines Weihnachtsliedes. Das machen schon die ausführlichen und liebevoll von Max Rademann zusammengestellten Linernotes sowie der Einleger mit Erzgebirge-Panorama deutlich. Abgerundet wird das Weihnachtsgeschenk mit dem Schwibbogen Etching auf der B-Seite, das einen traditionellen Lichterbogen aus dem Weihnachtsland Erzgebirge darstellt und von Alexander Dorn aka Credit 00 gemalt wurde.

„Haisel Stieht“ ist ein Jam, der aus der Zusammenarbeit einer illustren Dresdner Musikerrunde entstammt und der auf dem Liedgut-Klassiker „Wu de Wälder haamlich rauschen“ von 1905 aus der Feder des berühmten Volksdichter und Sänger Anton Günther aus dem schönen Erzgebirge basiert. Die versammelte Musikerschar schraubte einen Track zusammen, der das klassische House-Drumming von Break SL mit der wunderbaren Gitarre von Jens Rosemann und dem unverwechselbaren Schmachten vom gebürtigen Erzgebirgler Max Rademann verbindet, der außerdem noch seine Orgel bedient. Im Hintergrund rappen und lachen auch noch Tiny und Silke Brandes herum.

Für „Zauberhafte Fantasie“ wiederum ist Break SL alleine verantwortlich. Ein Track, der mit dem prägnanten Jazz-Sample und den fast schon symphonischen Strings perfekt auf eine Weihnachtsplatte mit Uncanny Valley-Prägung passt.

“City Wasteland” comes as a full CD as well as a split in two 12inches including some tracks that are vinyl-exclusives. Sebastian Lohse a.k.a. Break SL from Dresden is still quite young, but you can feel that he already defined his own universe of sounds and proper production skills. The second 12inch (City Wasteland Pt.2) now starts with the track “Move!” which doesn´t carry it´s name for nothing…this is true-school Techno! Next, “Dirtbomb” shows some nice edges and has a kinda dark feeling. Hovering samples and a raw, dirty feel on the drums gives the whole track a very subtle blues. On the flip Break SL enters deepest territory of Detroit-influenced Techno with “Weird Dancer". The last track here “TFF” is a vinyl-exclusive which delivers intense and acid-like drum layers …Chicago galore! “Thanks for purchasing a real copy!”

After two very successful 12inches on Philpot, we are proud to present the first full-length album from Break SL aka Sebastian Lohse from Dresden! “City Wasteland” comes as a full CD as well as a split in two 12inches (release of part 2 in early autumn), including some tracks that are vinyl-exclusives. Break SL is still quite young, but you can feel that he already defined his own universe of sounds and proper production skills. After the smooth introduction with House-rooted strings, piano and sweet fm-synthesis, he explores already deepest territory of Detroit-influenced Techno with “Weird Dancer", followed by the lush playground-atmosphere over beatdown-excursions on “Kids".The track “My Love is for U” introduces us to the voice of Syjana, singing a duet with the maestro himself…pure sweetness! “Break it” pushes musical boundaries even further, breaking up with 4 to the floor: Funked-up Electro and meandering soundscapes, reminding us a lot of B12 and the likes…timeless! Next is “Laguna Seca” from his second 12inch on Philpot with the same name - a track that already made it into various charts when it was released, and a true masterpiece of it´s own. “Dirtbomb” shows some nice edges and has a kinda dark feeling to it. Hovering samples and a raw, dirty feel on the drums gives the whole track a very subtle blues, but the following “Slowmotion” pours oil on troubled water and has that endless floating, euphoric feeling, we sometimes miss on the floors of today. "Trombone" is taken from Break SL´s debut, a hidden gem of sparkling arpeggios, driving chords and a serious beat...this absolute killer comes in a different version on this Album! The next track "Move!" doesn´t carry it´s name for nothing, true-school Techno galore! "Searching" takes out the tempo a bit, keeps it funky, moody and Syjana´s voice rounds up this beautiful mellow track. The "Outro" breaks it up for the last time, leaving you stunned by the overall atmosphere and variety of moods, Break SL has created with this lovely album called "City Wasteland". Break SL - Low Light (Uncanny Valley 001)

After celebrating the 20th catalogue number with an extensive compilation, Uncanny Valley continues with serious business in the form of Break SL’s long awaited new EP. On “Atlantic Ocean Road” the Uncanny Valley regular returns in top form and with 4 tracks that come across like an acoustic showroom of everything that makes Break SL’s timeless House music so special.

The title track is a perfect example of his sophisticated drumming combined with catchy and dreamy synth work. As the name implies, “Atlantic Ocean Road” feels like the soundtrack to one’s favourite road trip memories. “FM 4 Life” gets alive with jazzy beats, clever sampling and driving yet muddled bass lines.

“Trocadéro” is based on a field recording which Break SL brought home from Paris. Here again, Break SL masterfully combines slightly melancholic vibes with funky rhythmic elements. The record is finished in style with one of those tunes that dancers won’t get out of their head even on their way home from the club. On “Malstrøm", cheerful synths play beautiful melodies over a dark and groovy bass and the jacking drumming is full of ideas that are subtle but essential.

The cover artwork comes courtesy of David Rost from Dresden. With his tape rendering concept he produced a visual analogy to Break SL’s music and the EP’s title. Stay tuned for a video that will document the creation process.

C-Beams is the new joint project by Break SL and Sandrow M. who got to know each other during their activities for Uncanny Valley. “Thumbling” is the first result of these jam-sessions. The track starts out with warm synth pads over a thrilling drum arrangement with a slightly stumbling bass drum. All of a sudden synthesizer-chords come into play. While these chords are staccato-like at first, they merge into a laid-back solo. We can’t refrain from calling that pretty deep.

Believe it or not but Uncanny Valley looks back on five years of releasing records this summer. There was a bit of discussion on how to celebrate this occasion properly. Instead of just turning into the typical Greatest hits-routine the label heads Albrecht, Carl, Conrad and Philipp decided to look back and forth. So, besides a record with completely new material there will be a record that unleashes four tracks from the vaults of these five years. As you can imagine, there are lots of tracks that are good too but doesn’t fit on the record in question because of the whole record’s atmosphere or just because there’s not enough space on the vinyl. But it would be a shame if those tunes stay unreleased forever. So, here’s “Uncanny Valley: Five Years On Parole - gems from the vaults”!
