Release 34 is a meeting of minds and talent as two of our future faves join forces for the very first time on Herzblut. The French dream-team of Electric Rescue and Maxime Dangles present a new brace of techno gems on the Melomis EP. The release comes hot on the heels of Maxime's, Oralipse ep, which has been heating our floors since July and the pair demonstrate just why they are in such high demand with their exotic genre-crossing techno workouts. Melomis is pure fire. Simple and yet utterly devastating, it's staccato siren riff drills away, filtered and intensified before the earth-shattering drums power in. On the flip its groove all the way as Orlando uses power and poise to generating an impressive helping of funk by matching the the most delicate of bells with raw, weighty beats, bass and breakdown.

After a string of acclaimed releases on Token and a selection of remixes, Ø [Phase] released his debut album 'Frames Of Reference' on Token last fall. It's Boys Noize and after his sterling 'Go Hard' EP dropped last year we are now presented with a mammoth set of remixes. Always guaranteed to get the cream of the dance music crop on editing duty, Ridha has enlisted the likes of Aden, Salva, Club Cheval, Bounce and Juyen Sebulba to chop up his well-crafted productions.

Today we premiere the Pilo remix of 'Excuse Me' and the Boys Noize Records regular has nicely raised the tone with sidewinding synths and explosive drops. There's some slick vocal cuts and beautiful builds, making this a remix that no doubt has the full seal of approval from the Noize.

ENTROPY TRAX, is the new sister label to Kompakt's WALLS helmed ECSTATIC imprint. Expect limited edition hand artworked white-label 12"s from a variety of artists, focussed on experimental dance floor sounds.

The debut release comes from DFA's Gavin Russom (The Crystal Ark/Black Meteoric Star) with a titanic double-header that announces the first of a series of releases for the label. Recording under his own name for the first time since 2011's 'Night Sky', this material finds Russom creating visceral and hypnotic dance floor tracks.

Gavin Russom on 'The Purge':
"I think of this as a meditation on the transformative power of illness. Cathartic purging and even the use of drugs to replicate states of extreme illness is a part of many healing traditions interestingly enough. In fact, after titling the track, I read in Jonathon Miller Weisberger's fantastic new book 'Rainforest Medicine' that in the urban version of the Yage ceremony the plant concoction they use is called 'La Purga' - literally 'The Purge' in Spanish."

Gavin Russom on 'Enthroned':
"David Brown's book 'Santeria Enthroned' was sitting on my kitchen table as I worked on this track and the titled seemed to fit it well after finishing it. I wanted to evoke a complex image of empowered femininity in the track, much like the images of orishas like Ochun, Yemaya and Oya that Brown describes in his writing. I was creating a kind of praise poem in sounds that describe a distinctly female type of energy. 'Drops' are eschewed in favor of rushes and shifts. There's an aspect of connectedness, especially with the powers of nature such as the river, the ocean and the wind that I wanted to capture…"

‘You Are Eternity’ is the third album to be released on Stroboscopic Artefacts and comes from two of the minds who have shaped the label since its earliest days: Dadub. Recorded over a period of two years, but containing fragments and ideas that stretch back a decade ‘You Are Eternity’ has been mixed together to form a continuous piece rather than twelve discreet tracks. The effect? An immersive journey that encompasses the descriptors brutal, ferocious, ambient and aqueous.

It would be easy to describe the album’s structure as that of two halves, but it’s not that simple. The structure that Dadub has developed is cyclical at its most compliant, and elliptical at its most oblique. Within these forms the sounds that emerge run the gamut of electronic music. ‘Existence’ and ‘Unbroken Continuity’ explore futuristic, atmospheric states. ‘Path’ swaggers with rippled dub. Embedded into ‘Truth’ is a polemic sample of Henry Waxman questioning Alan Greenspan. And the same record houses ‘Transfer’, a staunch cut that’s more than fortified to do some damage.

In the studio Dadub’s process is nothing short of alchemical. Their characteristic sound originates from entirely digital sources, but their sound treatments reanimate this raw material filling it with warmth and human emotion. The source loops and synthesised lines are run through countless channels and complex chains of effects to arrive at a destination unrecognisable from the points of origin. Dadub are true sound materialists.

Knowing that Dadub place so much emphasis on process, it’s all the more interesting to hear their collaborations with other artists and ‘You Are Eternity’ is graced by fellow SA cohort Edit Select, the sound experimenter Øe and Ninja Tunes stalwart King Cannibal. It is indeed King Cannibal who teamed up for the album’s most ferocious cut ‘Transfer’. Whereas ‘Experience’ ft. Øe is a hazy slither of atmospherica. And the only straight kick of the entire record is to be found on the track with the most elusive subject matter, ‘Death’ ft. Edit Select, a collaborative elegy on the ultimate unknown. ‘You Are Eternity’ tends towards spaces that are undefined, that are unquantifiable - this album is a foray into Jenseits.

The album title hints at the almost spiritual origins of the album, Dadub’s search for music that goes further, that spreads away from the confines of the time and place in which we find ourselves, music that seeps into the cavern of the eternal. Tucked into ‘Vibration’, the very first track, is a sample of the Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. He leans close and says: Music is a spiritual gift, and those who misuse it, die young. Sage words. ‘You Are Eternity’ is a record that refuses to take any chances, Dadub are clearly producers intent on being around for quite some time.

Six years ago, Token was born with the release of Inigo Kennedy's 'Identify Yourself'. Since then, each of his EP's has been a milestone in the label's growth and this new 3-tracker promises to be no different.

Title track ‘Cathedral’ has you floating under its arches at a sheer height above the heads of its 
worshipers, while ‘Chamber’ takes you back down straight to the centre of the dance floor. Closing the EP is the graceful ‘Accordion’, which could be the soundtrack to a lucid dream.

Token starts 2013 in pure Inigo Kennedy style: dark, refined and oh so magnetic.

Central American born Silent Servant has performed worldwide in clubs from LA, Berlin to Osaka. A chance meeting with Karl O'Conner in 1999 would establish a friendship that would open the door to the Sandwell District label in 2006. Silent Servant's sound is a reinterpretation of early '80s post-punk electronics, paired with the deep, metallic sounds of Basic Channel and Downwards.
