Decir que Dimi Angélis ha estado siempre rondando por ahí, es decir lo obvio. Cuando a finales de los noventa el techno se apoderó por primera vez en los Países Bajos, Dimi estaba allí para ayudar a dar forma a la cultura que lo vería florecer. Promoviendo raves y fiestas en warehouses en Ámsterdam y poniendo su primera aguja en un disco cuando el "underground" realmente significó algo, desde entonces ha construido una carrera que abarca dos décadas.

Su artesanía se basa en la emoción, la honestidad y la firme creencia de que la música tiene el poder de mover y educar.

Con el tiempo, su camino lo ha llevado a todas partes, desde Berghain y Awakenings hasta Under Club y Dekmantel.

Además de tocar discos, Dimi es un ávido productor. Después de asociarse con Jeroen Search en 2004, la primera mitad de sus veinte años de actividad activa lo vio lanzar una serie de codiciados EP's y LP's en Mission (6277/Axis), Stockholm LTD y su etiqueta de propiedad conjunta A&S.

Ahora, a medida que se acerca el comienzo de una tercera década, Dimi ha tenido el mismo éxito en la producción de música en solitario en Construct Re-Form, Krill Music, Falling Ethics, Warm Up y su propio sello ANGLS. Al igual que Dimi, ANGLS es una plataforma para techno abierto y directo, que ayuda a dar forma al género durante otras dos décadas por venir.

En esta ocasión, Dimi compartió con nosotros la grabación completa de dos horas de la transmisión en vivo ANGLS On Air Special Regis.

To say that Dimi Angélis has been around, is to state the obvious. When during the late nineties techno first got hold in The Netherlands, Dimi was there to help shape the culture that would see it flourish. Promoting raves and warehouse parties in Amsterdam and putting his first needle on a record back when ‘underground’ actually meant something, he has since built a career that spans two decades.

His craftsmanship is based on emotion, honesty and the firm belief that music has the power to move and educate.
Over time his path has taken him everywhere from Berghain and Awakenings to Under Club and Dekmantel.

Besides playing records, Dimi is an avid producer. After teaming up with Jeroen Search in 2004, the first half of his twenty-odd active years saw him release a string of sought-after EP’s and LP’s on Mission (6277/Axis), Stockholm LTD and their co-owned A&S label.

Now, as the beginning of a third decade draws closer, Dimi’s been equally successful in putting out solo music on Construct Re-Form, Krill Music, Falling Ethics, Warm Up and his own ANGLS imprint. Much like Dimi, ANGLS is a platform for open and straigthforward techno, helping to shape the genre for another two decades to come.

I've always been one of those people who liked to stay in the dark corner of the techno floor, and all my mixes reflect that mood. But this time, I wanted something different. For Bleak Narrative's first official DJ mix, I chose a happy, bubbly feeling, even if it ends on a more melancholic note (because that's still part of me). "Upstairs Playground" is an homage to Panorama Bar; if you're familiar with it, you know it's the upstairs, more cheerful area of Berghain. I spent many unforgettable moments there, and I hope this selection of tracks can encapsulate a little bit of that nostalgia.

Materia Hache troubles and from that troubling makes politics. It is in a permanent search of collective displacement from an individual introspection. It is a form of resistance from the dance body for an individual / collective question / displacement. Materia Hache is that silence that opens for constant change: it is QUEER, it is TECHNO, it is HOUSE; it is what is born from fear, distance and uncertainty; it is all that is tried to be kept invisible while from the underground we answer with rhythms that displace us, that question us, that turn us into only one matter, at least for a few moments, more loudly than any given form. Since the beginning of 2020 she has been immersed in the search for women and nonbinary producers to give visibility and voice to all those who fight for and to create a dance floor that deserves to be danced.

"This is an invitation to dance with a desperate attitude, constantly searching for a sensitivity that really remains open to tension with the unfathomable, the non reducible or the non conceptualized. 

Dancing as an attitude of non indifference, which holds in itself the core of any possible or impossible revolution, of any simple possibility of change, or of transgression, or of translation, or of creation. Or of future. 

Dancing as an action for time in a society that consumes and devours. To stop time as a way of giving distance so that what is lived at another speed can also be danced. To give distance as a way of listening.
Dancing as active listening for the care of the self and the encompassing community. Distance is the place of the in-between, the place of inadequacy and discomfort. Without distance there is no possible approach, nearness continues to leave a gap between two bodies, and it is precisely this gap that makes possible the rubbing, the touching, the caring. With the insecurity they carry. 
Ritual is a way of distancing, staging grief, homage to the remembrance."

A berlini Lecken kollektíva használati útmutatója: jöjj össze barátokkal (vagy idegenekkel) egy használaton kívüli városi térben vagy parkban. Készítsétek elő ugyanazt a mixet, tegyétek fel a fejhallgatókat, vegyétek fel egymással a szemkontaktust, és 3-2-1 visszaszámlálásra indítsátok el. Lépjetek a ritmusra előre - kemény lábak, puha szív -, az első negyed órában legyen csak egy lassú, ritmikus járás, ami folyamatosan bontakozik ki tánccá. Egy pillanatra se adjátok fel a lépéseket: ami a transzállapot elérésére irányuló kísérleteket illeti, az ismétlés a kulcs. Egy órára kötelezzétek el magatokat. Kifizetődő lesz. The Technodrift is a resilient technology to keep the ancient spirits of the dance floor alive and our bodies in (safe) resonance with one another. It is simple, adaptable, tenacious, interconnected and... ecstatic. Dreamt up during the pandemic by Maria F Scaroni of our Berlin besties, the Lecken collective. How to technodrift: come together with friends or strangers. Use a disused urban space, a park or nature. Prepare the mix on your device. Test it’s working. You have headphones. Small ritual: join the devices together like the mosquetier’s spades or a team cheer; connect with each other though eye contact and count down 3-2-1 and press play at the same time. Then start stepping forward on the beat with a willful intention, playing the earth, reviving its heart with your stepping. Strong legs, soft heart. A walk is the portal, the way in. Stick to the stepping and swinging of the arms, it is a way to activate a different part of the brain, creating a sense of expanded consciousness, or ‘high’. As for any attempt at reaching a trance state, repetition is the key. You are committed to one hour. Enter patiently, let it be ‘just a walk’ or a dance disguised as a walk for the first 15 min. It will pay back. Then just let the drift take you. A portal to the faraway times of dance floors that seem so distant now. And now you're ready to open this portal by the mix of @OMOHBp resident @menishu. Don't forget: we will be dancing sooon.
