DJ/Producer Dimuth K was quick to establish himself as a favourite in Sri Lanka's Electronic Music circuit, and has been at the forefront of inspiring a new generation of electronic music producers on the island.

Having played alongside the likes of Nick Warren, Jeremy Olander, Guy J, Guy Mantzur, Brian Cid, and Cid Inc, and with numerous releases on labels such as Sudbeat, Hope Recordings, Parquet, and Plattenbank, Dimuth K is known for his unique blend of emotionally uplifting House/Techno/Progressive grooves.

Lucky for us here in Canada, Dimuth K has relocated to Toronto. (He has even been seen larking about, live-streaming with our good friend, Tim Penner!).

We are honoured that Dimuth K accepted our invite to make us this guest mix, Institution 047: Dimuth K. We think you’ll agree with us that it turned out beautifully.

performances that earned him the title of Sri Lanka’s Best DJ/
Producer at the YES Home-Grown Awards 2017.
Playing alongside heavyweights such as Nick Warren, Jeremy Olander, Guy J, Guy Mantzur, Brian Cid,Cid Inc, Khen
and Sahar Z, and being renowned for his unique blend of emotionally uplifting House/Techno/Progressive grooves, it was only a matter of time before the now Toronto -based
artist started getting noticed by colossal record labels including Argentinian based imprint Sudbeat, Hope Recordings, Solee’s Parquet Recordings and more. His music has been continuously played and
supported by global heavyweights in the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, Cid Inc, Mathias Mayer to name a few. With a whole line
-up of big releases in the pipeline, Dimuth K definitely shows no sign of slowing down

The 45th edition of Juicebox Radio welcomes - Dimuth K. Born in Sri Lanka and currently based in Toronto, Canada Dimuth has been on the forefront of inspiring the new generation of Sri Lankan Electronic music scene. He has shared the decks with names like Nick Warren, Jeremy Olander, Guy J, Cid Inc to name a few and has had stunning releases on imprints such as Sudbeat, Plattenbank, Edge and many more. In 2018 he made his debut on our label by remixing Ziger's "Razor" found on our label's third volume of "Untold Stories" which is also a highlight in the label's retrospective "The Collection: Volume 3". Dimuth also made an appearance on the label's ambient compilation "Tales of Time - Chapter 1" in 2019, in collaboration with Joel Fernando titled "Manu." Now in 2021, he is back on our imprint with a forthcoming Reverie mix of Jiminy Hop's "Contemplation" and to celebrate it, we're stoked to have Dimuth K on our show with an exclusive 1 hour mix. Music beckoned this Sri Lankan from a very young age. Being captivated by the unique variations, styles and emotions that lived at the heart of every genre, many days in his teens, he would find himself listening to movie scores, lost in their stories, yearning to tell his own.

Here’s that story so far:
Fuelled by his life-long passion for the art of music, fresh out of high school, Dimuth was on a musical quest. Dimuth was completely enthralled with the newly discovered electronic music universe, and found himself using every sparse moment exploring the ins and outs of different electronic music genres to find the sound that characterized himself, which ultimately paved the way for his career as an electronic music DJ.

Very soon he soon found himself transfixing crowds with his Groovy, Progressive House sets and was quick to gain popularity on the decks with his energetic and versatile performances across the island at many clubs, festivals and parties, setting the stage for the likes of Roger Martinez, Khen, UNER, and playing alongside heavyweights such as Nick Warren, Guy J, Guy Mantzur, Sahar Z, Jeremey Olander, Cid Inc., Fehrplay, Third Son and Alex Kenji among many others.

In the meantime, behind the scenes Dimuth was setting the foundation for what would be the game changer of his career. Carefully crafting his own unique blend of emotionally uplifting Trance, Progressive House, and Tech grooves, it was only a matter of time before he started getting noticed by colossal record labels such as Hope Recordings, Balkan Connection, Movement Recordings, Particles and more. Was also featured on Max Graham’s ‘Cycles 8’, released on Black Hole Recordings and recognized as Sri Lanka’s Best DJ/Producer at the Yes Home-Grown Awards 2017.

With massive support from the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Cid Inc, Markus Schulz, Gai Barone, John 00 Fleming, Marcelo Vasami to name a few, Dimuth’s music has been captivating listeners all around the world at the biggest festivals from Woodstock Bloemendaal (Netherlands), Warung (Brazil), CODA (Canada), Loveland (Amsterdam), Sziget (Hungary), to numerous other international clubs and has reached Beatport’s Top 100 Progressive House Charts many a time.

Outside of the studio, Dimuth has been working towards growing the Sri Lankan Electronic Music industry as a co-founder of ‘THE BLUEPRINT.’ - launched with the aim of bringing electronic music enthusiasts together and building a platform for young and upcoming talent in Sri Lanka. You are sure to keep hearing whispers of this upcoming prodigy in arenas around the world in the time to come. And so, the story continues...
