Berlin-based storyteller Powel has spoiled us.

He delivers four completely unique records, each knocking through the speakers with fierce percussion, and melodies that glide and fly, carrying the listener off to somewhere else. On each cut, he exhibits his mastery of joyful keys and exquisite drum programming, never missing the opportunity to craft delicious, exciting grooves that are sure to ring out around clubs worldwide.

The title track, Rad, shares the same name as the 1986 film, which inspired the EP, and it takes us on a progressive journey, with beautiful synth pads and subtle vocal manipulations layered over a strong, knocking drum beat that builds in intensity as the track progresses.

Not content with stopping there, Powel cuts in and out with stunning synth lines and a snare drum that instantly makes your head bounce — a statement of intent for the quality of music that is to follow on this EP.

The project's second song, Out Of Fashion, instantly catches the listener's attention with a stiff, marching beat, eerie stabs and a manipulated vocal sample that swings around the drums. But quickly, the vocoder melts into a gorgeous, pulsating synth line that is urgently propelled along by the percussion towards its crescendo.

Then we're transported deep into Powel's mind for the third cut, where he treats us to a gorgeous slice of melodic goodness on Wine & Cigarettes. It is good-natured and has an old-school groove that grips you and promises to never let go.

And suddenly, just like that, we reach Ode To A Carrot, which takes the form of a euphoric dream, set in a warehouse party in the 90s. Powel serves us a fat, squelchy bassline that is unlike anything else we have heard from him before.

Meshed with wavy pads and a pounding kick drum to create a funky dancefloor anthem, this acts as the perfect closer for a body of work that speaks volumes about a producer who seems incapable of producing mediocre music.

As if that wasn't already enough, the EP is complete with a remix package featuring Haider Uppal and Timo Chinala, Mark Slee, Lauren Ritter, and Brigade. Again, each remix takes the original track in a completely unexpected direction, delighting the listener and highlighting every moment of joy from Powel's original creations.

The monthly 2-hour show is hosted by Peletronic. He is a versatile DJ from Vienna with a respectable pool of releases, available on both vinyl & digital. Furthermore, he is co-hosting his own events via Acid Lambada and is also a regular artist at Fortunea Records.

Each and every show features a guest mix by carefully selected international DJs.

Sebas Ramos Remix kept the foundations of the original but achieved something different and interesting in rhythmic percussion and last but not least the remix of Andy Artus which is a masterpiece incredible atmosphere and melodies combining his vocal is something beautiful!

It's been a year of change and evolution for Brian Cid. After starting off with his 'Be One' EP on Endangered, and further releases on Bar 25 and Infinite Depth, he's also moved to Berlin, and recently resumed touring after a self-imposed break. To close out 2021, Brian comes full circle with 'Time Is Liquid' and a return to his Endangered label.

Here is the background of the project from Brian's own words:

'Time is liquid and forever changing, adjusting & shaping itself to fulfill our deepest unconscious desires. Time gives us life, as water does, purifying our dusty karmic energy. I consider this project another chapter of the evolution of my sound. I believe that I slide into interesting territories never explored before. This EP reflects the manifestation of my deepest expression of self-empowerment. A very minimal musical approach, yet filling and grandiose. A true intergalactic flight.

My intention was to show a bit more of my rhythmic roots, in conjunction with my forward thinking approach in the world of sounds. I am playing with different possibilities of colors and shades going from subtle movement to intense distortion, from loops to chord progressions. Complex rhythms, patterns, and breaks that will pull you inside a blackhole, making sense to the underlying story of my curious mind.

For the first time I was conscious about adding subtle merengue rhythms played with the sounds of a traditional Dominican tambora, one of its most prestigious percussive instruments and one of deep impact. The very root of this island's rhythmic pattern. This idea can be clearly experienced in 'Nostalgia' and 'Bayahibe', which by the way, is named after one of the most beautiful tropical beaches on this planet, Playa Bayahibe. This is my way to honor the land that saw me flourish, giving me so much.

Priku Boiler Room Bucharest x Interval DJ Set

GH003 brings you Priku.

Adrian Niculae a.k.a. Priku established himself as a hard working and passionate music creator. He is a member of Sunrise booking since 2007, making his way up to the big gigs through many noticeable Sunwaves performances. 

He released on labels such as [a:rpia:r], All Inn, Fabric, Concrete Music and Only 300 Family, his name is also on Cocoon Green & Blue 2011 and Cocoon Heroes compilations. 

Throughout he can be seen playing in many important clubs and parties around the world, including Robert Johnson, Amnesia, Kazantip Festival, Tenax, Concrete, all across Europe and as far as the Americas. 

In 2012, Bobohalma Ep was released on [a:rpia:r] label. This was a resounding success, highly appreciated by his colleagues in the industry as well as the general public. 

2013 is a turning point for Priku. He creates his own label: Motif and releases a new solo – Acoustic Ep under his real name, Adrian Niculae, the name that’s also present on Fabric 72. 

Priku's achievements came when still relatively young proving to be extremely talented, when we look at him we can see this sweet and delicate face, however, when we listen to his music, especially his live performances - by definition presenting the core of his identity musically – we call him the “king of basslines”, there is a somewhat adorable contradiction here, sweet face vs dark and very strong music, in the best way possible. That element of surprise and this contradiction makes him an even more fascinating artist. 

In 2016 started a new label and series of parties called Atipic, party by which we hold a residency at Guesthouse. This set is an extract of his set at Atipic at the club in March 2019.
