Of the artists who inspired the launch of 3am Recordings, Miles Hollway & Elliot Eastwick are probably those who are at the top of the chart; initially producing as the superb Salt City Orchestra with Si Brad, then latterly as Reset, with Merlin, providing yet more absolutely outstanding deep vibes. I've already recorded 'A Nod to Salt City Orchestra', so felt it was time to do 'A Nod To Reset', as their tracks remain regular features in my sets to this day. Those familiar with their vinyl will understand the reason behind the artwork used for this mix.... Jules David : The voice sample at the beginning is of the late Emily Remler, one of the best jazz guitarists of all time. Who is also, surprise surprise, another madly creative Virgo, born on 18th of September, 1957 (Ben and I both share the 20th).
The babe you see in the picture is of the late Jane Birkin, who sadly passed away just this year and is also the mother of Charlotte Gainsbourg, two of the coolest female artists you'll ever come across.

& oh yeah, the mix...Well, you know the drill, just another groovy little session of gut wrenchingly good beats from Jules for your groovy little souls <3

Beat Battle 112 - take the rhythm of a famous melody (in this case - "Enjoy the Silence") and turn it into your own melody. Easy work in Studio One - using the excellent chord track. All I needed was a progression - of which there are three (including a descending "Circle of Fifths"). Quite happy with this one and would love to know what you think - good or bad.
