In the most recent episode of Future Avenue Mixed, we extend a warm welcome to the talented duo behind Spirit & the Guide. They've graced us with a captivating mix, unveiling some hidden gems from our extensive back catalog—a true delight for progressive house enthusiasts.

Spirit & the Guide is the brainchild of "Super Mario" and "Roberto Frattini," two skilled DJs hailing from India and Switzerland. Their journey began on the dance floor, where they kindled their shared passion for progressive and electronic sounds over decades.

As fate would have it, they frequently found themselves performing as DJs, forging a friendship that eventually birthed the idea of merging their musical influences and visions into a live and production project—thus, Spirit & the Guide was born.

With each member contributing their unique musical background to the project, they've crafted a synth-laden sound filled with mystique, mysticism, and an irresistible groove. Their music is a fusion of diverse elements, reminiscent of the global sounds they've absorbed over their years on the dance floor.

Organically Grown Beats w/ STRAY SON + Guest Tyler Mesa - 08.11.23

We welcome Anastasiya Kazantseva a.k.a pumbum, for the sixty-fourth edition of the 'Deep In Mix' series. Pumbum hails from Krasnodar, Russia, and is currently based in Moscow. The inception of her musical odyssey can be traced back to an encounter with the mesmerizing sounds of electronic music during a friend's return from ABGT 200 in Amsterdam. Little did she know, this moment would become the catalyst for a transformative passion that would shape her future.

Her love for crafting melodies started at a young age, graduating from piano school and participating in choirs and competitions. However, it was the electronic music that truly captured her imagination. The pivotal experience at ABGT 300 in Hong Kong marked a before-and-after moment in her life, igniting a fervour for electronic music that couldn't be extinguished. In the face of the challenges posed by the global pandemic, Anastasiya seized the opportunity to dive deeper into her newfound passion. Enrolling in a course led by PROFF (Vladimir Ershov), she honed her skills in electronic music production. What started as a personal exploration soon evolved into a desire to share her creations with the world, leading her to embrace the role of a DJ.

Anastasiya's musical preferences reflect a diverse range, with a particular fondness for Organic House infused with Progressive influences, alongside Afro, Melodic, and Deep House. She has received support from artists like PROFF, Alexey Sonar, Armen Miran, RIGOONI, Christian Monique, Tvardovsky, Ruben Karapetyan, Maxxim, etc. Her forthcoming Organic House track titled "Leo" is set to be released under the Where The Shadow Ends label. It's a noteworthy inclusion in the 'Autumn Serenades' compilation on one of her favourite labels. Additionally, her experimental remix of Baud Rate's "Brownstone Summer" on the Sumer Melody label, originally a nu-house track, unexpectedly emerged as one of her standout works. Further showcasing her versatility, pumbum collaborates with Studio Deep, Maxim Zatonski, Nastine, and Cafe De Anatolia on the track "Harmony" slated for release under the Cafe De Anatolia label.

As Anastasiya continues to carve her path in the electronic music scene, her creative journey promises to be a captivating symphony of melodies that resonate with audiences around the globe. Keep an ear out for pumbum, a name set to make waves in the ever-evolving world of electronic music. She encourages the listeners to take a moment to unwind and let their mind drift away to the soothing power of good music.

Overwhelmed by the amount of friends that were there and new connections that were made. The disconnect from the craziness of life and the opportunity to play my true sound healed my soul. Hailing from Florianópolis, Brazil, Jack District channels over ten years of musical expertise into his potent new "Sem Frescura" EP for Valencia's theBasement Discos. This release arrives as a vibrant cultural statement from a nation fiercely defending its democracy against the attempted coup d'état orchestrated by the Bolsonaro gang, reminding the world of Brazil's resilient creative spirit. The three-track offering is a masterful blend of his foundational loves – the rich, improvisational textures of Jazz and the deep, emotive resonance of Soul – all expertly locked into the unwavering, physical groove of classic House Music. Jack fuses these elements into a cohesive and driving force, creating a collection that is as intellectually satisfying as it is irresistibly kinetic. The track itself is a focused and driving instrumental workout, built on a robust bassline that commands attention. What is it that attracts us to electronic music? It’s the warmth of the bass, the groove of the drums, the hypnotic melodies and lush soundscapes, but also how it helps us to connect. Connect to the sound, to each other, and to ourselves. That’s what drives him forward. He creates music to inspire connection, and puts his heart and soul in to all of his productions and sets. Since first being exposed to Trance music in the early 2000’s with labels like Anjunabeats, A State of Trance, and In Search Of Sunrise, he began soaking up as much dance music as he could. A few years later he discovered a more “techy” sound – labels like Cocoon Recordings, Hot Creations, and Crosstown Rebels were a huge influence. Naturally, his love for these two styles of music along with lots of experimentation along the way, slowly began fusing together to create his own distinct sound. 

He has performed at a variety of clubs such as Era, City at Night and Flybar in Ottawa, and Circus, Newspeak, and Nhau bar in Montreal. His releases over the years span a multitude of genres – from Trance and Psytrance to Techno, Progressive House, and Organic House. Tyler Mesa is the next phase in his music career, having spent the prior 10 years under the “Tydal” alias. A new beginning so to speak, representing the culmination of tireless dedication and experimentation until finding a sound that truly resonated.
