Welcome to the 9th episode of Groove Theory. My guest this time around is no other than the talented MightyKat, who has been a pioneer of the Montreal electronic music scene. She has prepared an extra groovy set with some funky and deep elements. I can guarantee that you’ll want to move while listening to this, wherever you will be. 

MightyKat was born with a sixth sense for rhythm. International DJ and veteran for over 25 years, she has no problem commanding a dance floor with well-curated selections that span eclectic house, rare disco cuts, the funkier side of techno, and beyond. Her versatility is further demonstrated by her equal abilities to warm up a room, close out a night, or control the primetime slot at clubs, festivals and afterhours alike.
Shortly after starting her vinyl collection, MightyKat founded the wildly successful ‘Dizzy’ night at Salon Daomé with Vincent Lemieux in the early 00’s, presenting to Montreal to now-legendary names like Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Zip, Sonja Moonear, and Sammy Dee. Through the years, MightyKat has also shared a bill with Doc Martin, Cesar Merveille, Cassy, Derrick Carter, Archie Hamilton, Ryan Crosson, Matthew and Anja Schneider, to name just a few. Now with her popular sunset party ‘Purr Club Social’ in Montréal for 6 years, and also holds a weekly livestream spanning 52 episodes during the lockdown. She also lent her talents to the Listed Takeover of Desert Hearts TV Twitch this past spring.
In addition to frequent appearances in Montreal, she has been heard laying down grooves at prestigious venues across the continental US and beyond in places like Berlin, Brooklyn, DC, Miami, Playa del Carmen, Paris, San Francisco, and many more.

Klark Bent & Simon Sheldon fly the flag for Freebooter Lounge, while Dino Lenny & Grace Jones deliver a very special collaboration. Here it is. Life's busy but I'm really proud to put this mix out regardless of it being February! As always, my yearmixes are a representation of the music that stuck with me through 2024. Maybe a song impressed me technically, maybe it pushed the boundaries of the current sound, or maybe it hit me in the right spot in some simple, personal way. 

Starting with some deep, organic sounds, then blending it's way into some enchanting progressive vibes, ending on some breakbeat.
