BLVQ IRIS, formally known as Masedi Mathe, started writing music at the stage of 12. At this stage, IRIS used music as a means to escape the disturbing reality of the conflict between herself and her inner demons. By the age of 14, after her father took her to an Eminem concert, music was no longer just a hobbie for IRIS. She started writing about her life and aspirations, and her complicated relationship with her parents during their ongoing divorce. Between 2015 and 2016, she began attending studio more frequently as she was preparing to release music. By the following year, IRIS had recorded over 20 songs, juggling school, sports and music. In 2016, she co-hosted an event called "#THEBLVQ", which marked the launch of her music as BLVQ IRIS, the Blaq Apparel clothing brand and the record label A.R.T.S Entertainment. Always looking to write from the heART, IRIS writes stories from past, present and future.
