Great info but a few things to consider... There are three types of true Shockwave devices; electrohydraulic (penetrates up to 12 cm), electromagnetic (penetrates up to 5cm), and piezoelectric (penetrates up to 6cm).  Storz and Chatannooga carry true shockwave devices with focused applicators, and report the results are from microtrauma but Softwave TRT has an unfocused electrohydraulic applicator which doesn't appear to cause any microtrauma.  Radial pressure waves do not create shockwaves so they are not true shockwave devices but does have some efficacy for superficial issues however is extremely painful due to causing trauma (bruising, swelling)  at the site of treatment.
