A producer with 20 years of experience perfecting his craft, we’re excited to welcome Ramon Tapia to Drumcode for his debut EP.

The artist previously contributed a pair of cuts to the A-Sides series in recent years with ‘Sonic Therapy’ and Drum Control’, while also playing the Drumcode stage at Tomorrowland in 2019. Elsewhere he’s dropped heat on Truesoul, led by the crisp groover ‘Manipulate’. His ascension to Drumcode for his first full-fledged solo EP release is richly deserved.  

As with so many during the past year, Tapia’s taken his studio work in colourful and interesting directions. ‘The Future of Mankind’ is a multi-faceted beast. The title track is a straight-up weapon, driven by an ascendent riff that’s energetic and hopeful in equal doses. ‘Song of Sirens’ sees ambient pads and rolling percussion combine for a quality cut every DJ needs. ‘Screwdriver’ does what it promises on the tin; guttural and textured, it’s a necessary transitional tool for every techno set. ‘Hold On’ is the kind of emotion charged dance music that’ll make us go collectively weak at the knees when raving returns. We’re already excited to hear it rinsed at Drumcode Festival in Malta this September, when Tapia joins the party.

SATELLA - Lost In Mind [SINDEXVA004]

Berlin’s Pure Hate drop their 5th release ‘Chrome Horse Diplomat EP’ by Mickey Nox. Having previously remixed MDD on PH003, this time he takes both sides of the record and delivers 4 heavy hitting original signature hammer tracks.

Mickey spawned out of the cracks of the Melbourne club scene in 2007. Which led to several residencies & festivals around Australia. In 2013 he launched his label & brand ‘Green Fetish Records’ which has since gone from strength to strength cementing its position in the Techno scene worldwide.

Outside of Australia & GFR he has played clubs such as Tresor, Moog, Basis, Jaded to name a few and has released music on labels such as Perc Trax, Mind Cut Music & South London Analog Material, having been remixed by the likes of Ansome, Ayarcana, Myler & Manni Dee along the way.

PH005 is available in stores from the 5th September, distributed by Ready Made Distribution, Berlin.

Track Description :

Emergency Dispatch is a hypnotic techno track driven by a deep and textured rolling sub-bass groove where punchy and energetic drums, unsettling vocals and a constantly evolving lead synth take centre stage.

One feature of the track that really stands out is the stereo play between the synth and vocals : the synth sweeps left to right while the vocals pan in the opposite direction. When they overlap it creates a sensation as if these sounds are orbiting around your head while listening on headphones!

The drums are very energetic often featuring rapid claps layered tightly over the kick, accompanied by fast, bright hi-hats.

The arrangement hints at the revolving synth early, giving listeners a glimpse of what's to come.

The breakdowns are all about creating atmosphere and tension to pull the listener in before the drops hit with loads of energy, driven by impact FX and a hard-hitting kick and sub.

After the second breakdown comes the ‘throw’ — an unexpected 1-bar pre-drop where the synth whips dramatically from one side to the other, while the kick and drums groove beneath it. It’s the kind of moment that makes you grin when it lands.

The second half ramps up the excitement — reintroducing the ‘throw’ and pushing the lead synth into new territory. Through creative automation, the synth morphs, mutates, and at times becomes almost unrecognisable, keeping the energy fresh right until the end
