Al Ekhwa band " The Brothers " is a Bahraini musical band that was formed by the widely Bahraini known performer of the western music singer/guitarist Ali Bahar in 1986. They were called variously Al Sakhra " The Stone " But finally the band name got changed to Al Ekhwa " The Brothers ".[1] They recorded such reggae, pop, and Latin songs.
Al Ekhwa has become one of the most successful band in Arabic world.[citation needed] The band is an Arabic well known for the technical proficiency of its instrumentalists, specially Khalid Al-Thawadi who is considered an Arabic guitar icon. The band's albums selling record is one of the highest records in the history of Bahrain music. In 2006, The band was named as "The Story of Bahrain" by a political Bahraini writer in Al-ayam Bahraini newspaper. also, the other Bahraini newspaper Akhbar Al-khaleej on it is first page demanded the Bahraini Prime minister to support the band. By performing a live show in front of 116,000 people during Muscat festival in Oman, the band made the highest audience record ever for an Arabic band live shows.
